DESCRIPTIVE WRITING Whenever I have a stressful day and my head is full of thoughts and problems, I tend to think of my happiest place and most peaceful moment to remain calm and get the bad things out of my mind. They are not imaginary because I have actually been at that place and lived that one moment. It was the summer of 2011 and I was visiting my cousins in Switzerland. This one particular day, I woke up and I realized I was home alone so I made a cup of coffee and enjoyed dipping cookies in it while looking at the beautiful nature through the window. They had a cute old styled house that I absolutely loved, in the most picturesque place I have ever been. While looking outside I noticed there was a swing suspended from a tree by robes. I immediately ran to the swing and took my sandals off to feel the grass. It felt like a high quality carpet tickling my feet with its delicacy while I was stepping over it. I have never seen grass greener than that in my entire life. I was swinging and flashing through the air with my eyes closed knowing this is the most peaceful moment I had in a long time. It was only me and the nature. I could hear the water flowing down its stream as background music to the birds’ song and all this as a feast of nature under the sky that was light blue with white clouds that looked like cotton candy. I had a genuine smile while living this and I get one every time I rethink it. The emotions I had are still as strong to distract me from the daily problems that I might be going through.

NARRATIVE WRITING
Bikinis are seen as common garment nowadays, but they were not an instant hit and things were a lot different back in the time. The two-piece swimsuit was launched in 1946 by a French automobile engineer called Louis Rèard, who had worked in his mother’s lingerie shop for years

Paragraph 7 contributes to the ideas in the text by showing that people got violent when others were just trying to make a change for the good. In paragraph 7 sentence 5 the author states, "When the buses reached Anniston, Alabama, an angry mob slashed the tires on one bus and set it aflame." The integrated black and white students were trying to take a stand and make a change. Yes, the people were breaking the law by driving all together, but others did not have to put them in danger for trying to make a change and do something right. This shows that others were breaking the law just as much as the integrated students.…

Figure 5 is a photo of my grandma in a bathing suit while on vacation in Atlantic City, NJ. The picture is dated September of 1967. She is wearing a high waist bathing suit bottom with a white stripe up the side and a scoop neck bathing top with a scalloped edge that has a daisy on each scallop. This bathing suit reveals some of her midriff, but not bearing her navel. Kennedy (2007) makes a note about bathing suit styles, “whereas the 1950’s were all about the bosoms and hips, the 1960s focused on the midriff” (p.202). High waist bathing suits were popular in the 50s; revealing part of the midriff but still keeping the navel concealed. This being the 60s and the height of the sexual revolution, the bikini had become an extremely popular swimsuit…

Chris McCandless‘s admirers are wrong to believe that he was a deeply honest person. At some moments in Into the Wild, he was not an honest person. According to Westerberg, a McCandless’s friend, said, “He never explained why he’d changed his name” (Krakauer 18). When McCandless decided to make a trip into the wild, he changed his name; he did not even bring any identification with him. During the trip, everybody knew about him under the name Alex. Westerberg was a friend that was close to McCandless, but he never knew McCandless’s real name until he discovered from McCandless’s tax form. Westerberg was so surprised, but he did not ask McCandless the reason why he changed his name. Westerberg knew something happened between McCandless and his father, which McCandless never told him. Unfortunately, he did not have a change to hear the truth from McCandless. The significance about changing his name was that McCandless did not want everybody to know the truth of his personality. He hid everything about himself and his family, except his sister. It was a pain in his heart when he thought about his father. Beside this, McCandless was also a dishonest person in his family. He kept all things he knew about his father inside, even his sister. In Into the Wild, Jon Krakauer wrote, “but he did not confront his parents with what he knew, then or ever. He chose instead to make a secret of his dark knowledge and express his range obliquely, in silence and sullen withdrawal” (Krakauer 123). These actions by McCandless suggest much about his character. His problem with his father could be solved if he told the truth with his parents, but he never did that. He just kept inside and became angry to his father, even lying to his friend with a new name. Lying with his friend and his family was lying to himself. He could not stand it because his father was lying to him and his mother, but he still repeated the mistake of telling lies with his parents. Keeping…

I have applied for a position as a Medical Transcriptionist at Arrowhead Hospital to get back into the medical field. When I graduated from High School, I decided that I wanted to be a Medical Assistant. At that time, I was employed by a company that was in the business of building houses. Once I graduated with my Associates Degree in Medical Assisting, I decided that I wanted to take my medical career further and continued my education with a course in Surgical Technology. Upon completion of my course work in the Surgical Technology program I was required to complete an externship at Phoenix Children’s Hospital within the pediatric neurosurgery department. This was an extremely challenging task as emotionally, I was not ready to deal with the emotional impact of helping babies that were so ill and sometimes terminal. I completed my externship and graduated from the program and at that time, I decided to continue my employment in the homebuilding business. In 2005, the real estate market started to take a turn for the worse and my position in homebuilding was eliminated. Shortly after this, I started a family and made the choice to stay at home with my children while they were young. I am now ready to re-enter the workforce and my past experience in the medical field complements the training that I have received as a Medical Transcriptionist.…

position with the Division of Economic Security (DES)?’ this is my response. Over the years I have held several different office type jobs. I started out as a temporary worker for DES, in a file room in the Child Support Division. I was required to build files for different units; maintain a log of the files that were being received, transferred out, and sent to the warehouse. The files sent to the warehouse were given a secondary number by the warehouse, in case a file had to be retrieved; this was the tracking system that allowed the warehouse to locate the appropriate file. I worked in DES as a Customer Service Representative (CSR) for the Family Assistance Administration (FAA). As a CSR I was required to perform a wide range of clerical duties; distributing mail/inter-office mail and faxes, pulling and filing files in the file room, registering/scheduling incoming applications, ensuring the case managers had their list of appointments for the day and the incoming paperwork that accompanied it, answering the switchboard to guide/answer incoming calls from consumers, and scan information the case managers had gathered from the consumers into the system. The position as a CSR proved tested my ability to multi-task and to prioritize and re-prioritize with the day to day changes.…

If I have had a bad day or issues are on my mind, the one place I go is the golf course alone. It was a scorching hot day and my mom dropped me off. I told her to come back in an hour and a half. I grabbed my golf bag and threw them on my back like a bag of bricks and begin to carry it over to the range. As I walked by the first tee box the workers were packing up for the day and heading home. I could hear lock on the door click and I knew I would be one of the few people out this late. In the sky the sun graced the horizons of the golf course and shined through the trees around me. Out on the course, there were a few scattered groups shooting around like ants on the horizon in their golf carts rushing to beat the darkness and get to the bar…

Every person dreams of finding a job that pays well so that they may live comfortably and take care of their loved ones for years to come. Most people hope to find some way to make a living that they enjoy, something that they view as productive. Unfortunately, many do not have this luxury. In our society, a good portion of the population is forced to hold the base of our country in place while hardly being redeemed for their time and effort, and thus the problem of income inequality. Numbers of these people live from paycheck to paycheck, barely getting by, not because they manage their money poorly, but because the value of their time at work is negligible. Some may even sacrifice happiness at work to find a job that pays better simply because they cannot make ends meet at their current job. Some people sacrifice their sanity and eventually their life just to keep from going under financially. Hence, income inequality is the interstice between poor and wealthy people. The concept of inequality is distinct from that of poverty and fairness. Income inequalities are used by to measure the distribution of income, and economic inequality among the participants in a particular economy, such as that of a specific country or of the world in general.…
