Our America by De’jah Smith

LeAlan And Lloyd are best friends and reporters but they start to split since LeAlan graduated and Lloyd failed 12th grade and didn’t go to graduation with LeAlan. Also the book didn’t write about the principle thinking that LeAlan and Lloyd was saying all these bad things about the hood that was not true.The reason why I think that there are so many differences in the book and movie is because LeAlan grandmother was singing her favorite song in the movie and the book never said that she was singing her favorite song. I like the movie better because it shows more things that never happened in the book. I like the book a little bit because it shows more things that never happened in the movie. The book and movie versions of Our America have many differences such as the movie shows and tells that Duane got shot and the book never said that Duane got shot. First, Duane and Lloyd was good friends they was like brothers to each other. But one day Duane was walking home from work and a drive by happened and they shot him for no reason. David Issay was a great man that helped Lloyd get back on his feet ever since he failed a grade. But the principle at their school did not believe that LeAlan And Lloyd was telling the truth about their neighborhood. So she went to a radio show and said how she thinks that David Issay is telling the boys the bad things but he isn’t. He is not telling them the bad things. They are telling the truth about everything that is going on in their community. To conclude, I think that the book and movie had many differences. Also the movie should have added more scenes about the book that was true. When they got older LeAlan went to college and became a businessman. Lloyd just went to college for one year and dropped out. Also David Issay won an award for having the best radio
