Osteosarcoma Case Study
Osteosarcoma is a malignant tumor that begins in the bone. Each year, approximately 400 children in the U.S. are diagnosed with osteosarcoma. It is associated with rapid growth, so it is rarely seen in kids before puberty. There is a five-year survival rate. This cancer is also likely to be curable in some matters. Osteosarcoma affects more guys than girls and most kids are taller than average. Zach matched all the statistics. He was a male, almost done with puberty, tall and skinny.
Zach Sobiech was a 14 year old boy who was diagnosed with osteosarcoma. He had blonde patchy ringlets for hair, soft, blue eyes and a scarred, beautiful soul. Zach had gotten worse. He could barely go to the restroom, get food for himself and none of the medications were working. His perfect night he had promised Amy looked far from reality but the next day something close to a miracle happened. Zach was up, walking and his medications were working. He didn’t feel the best but for Amy he felt amazing. The night became closer each second. The nerves in the air were high. At the dance everybody was happy to see such a familiar, strong face and they welcomed him with joy. Zach paid attention to Amy all night trying to make the moment perfect. In the middle of a slow song Zach leaned closer to Amy and whispered something in her ear that made her tear up a little. When the couple arrived back home around midnight they were gleaming.
