Netflix is an American Internet subscription service streaming television shows and movies. They began in 1997 when owner Reed Hastings received a late fee for a video. Netflix operates in three segments within the on demand entertainment sector; Domestic streaming, International streaming and Domestic DVD. When subscribers sign up they can watch unlimited television shows and movies streamed over the Internet to their televisions, computers and mobile devices. Netflix launched in United Kingdom and Ireland in January 2012. Netflix has many popular series such as '24 ' , 'Modern Family ' and 'Dexter '. They also have exclusive series such as 'House of Cards ', 'Hemlock Grove ' and 'Orange is the new Black '.

Blockbuster:
Blockbuster is an American provider of home movie and video game rental services, originally through video rental shops, later adding DVD by mail, streaming, video on demand and cinema theatre. At its peak in 2004, Blockbuster had up to 60,000 employees and more than 9,000 stores. Because of poor strategic planning, mismanagement and competition from other video rental companies such as Netflix, Blockbuster lost significant revenue and filed for bankruptcy on September 23, 2010.On April 6, 2011, the company and its remaining 1,700 stores were bought by satellite television provide dish network at auction for $233 million and the assumption of $87 million in liabilities and other obligations. The acquisition was completed on April 26, 2011.Dish closed 200 branches in July 2011,500 more in the first half of 2012,and another 300 in 2013.
