Oral Test: (10 points) i) 2 weeks before the oral text, topics (of 2 groups and four topics for each group) will be given for students to prepare. That means the students can choose either group to work on.

ii) When the test comes, students choose one topic by drawing a lot and conduct a discussion on it. Besides, the teacher asks one or two impromptu questions.

iii) Students can be put into groups of three in order to save time.

***Oral Grading will be mainly based on: (a) Pronunciation & Intonation; (b) Grammar & Vocabulary; (c) Discourse management; (d) Fluency; and (e) Interaction.

Group A
Unit Three Exposed to great stress and pressure, a great many modern people are forced to be “workaholics”. What problems may be caused by being a workaholic? If you were an employer, what practices would you adopt to assist employees and yourself to maintain work-life balance?

Unit Four Most people consider friendship to be one of the most important parts in our life. In your opinion, what kind of friendship is of most worth? Why do you cherish this kind of friendship? Does there exist real friendship between men and women? Give specific reasons and examples to justify your idea.

Unit Six When people move to another country, some of them decide to follow the customs of the new country, some prefer to keep their own customs. Compare these two choices. Which one do you prefer? Support your answer with specific details.

Unit Seven The word “ambition” seems unlovable sometimes. People are constantly advised to keep themselves from being excessively enthusiastic on personal success. What is your opinion? Do you think modern people should pursue their personal ambition bravely or they should conceal their ambition? Please illustrate your points with specific details.
