It all started before I could remember, walking into my uncle's store with a huge smile while being greeted by his coworkers with a warm welcome. I would sit in the cushioned chairs in the waiting area and stare at the pictures of my cousins hung up above me. I could remember always being fascinated by the different lenses and how the different glasses would make my vision change. Sometimes my uncle would let me in the back of the store, he would show me all the machines and tools for the eye and from that moment on I always had a passion for optometry. Of course throughout the years when people asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up I would not answer with “Optometry” because no one knew what it meant and it sounded silly to children. Optometrists can work many different fields, for example some optometrists mostly treat patients with a condition known as low vision. In addition many Optometric professionals specialize only on infants and children, while others are only target older customers. Many optometrists that own their practice may not spend very much time prescribing eyeglasses or eye care, they focus on business such as ordering supplies, promoting and marketing products, and hiring
