Oprah Winfrey Accomplishments
During the podcast What it Takes Oprah Winfrey says, “It doesn’t matter who you are, where you come from,the ability to triumph begins with you” (“The Queen of Daytime”). Oprah was born January 24, 1954 in Kosciusko, Mississippi and was born to separated parents (Brooks). Since her birth Oprah has excelled to be one of the wealthiest women in American and the highest paid entertainer in the world (Brooks). She now continues her TV show and contributing to the communities and sharing her important stories with others (Brooks). In Oprah's early life she had to fight threw a difficult childhood (Brooks). Oprah Winfrey demonstrated the characteristic of determination in her difficult childhood, TV career and charity works.

Oprah Winfrey’s talk show was quick to take off, hitting the charts fast, as the number one show on television. This show later won three Daytime Emmy awards for Outstanding/Talk Service Program. Oprah was starting to build a name for herself as the youngest person to win “broadcaster of the year” (“The Queen of Daytime”).This made her be determined not to only have an average television show, but the best television show on the air. Winfrey achievements were amazing. They were accumulating up and she was getting determined more and more everyday. Oprah herself later achieving her second consecutive Emmy as Outstanding Talk/Service Program (“The Queen of Daytime”). Oprah being determined as she was her awards and achievements were stacking up (“The Queen of Daytime TV”). Oprah was determined to help herself and help others by joining weight watchers. Later Oprah bought the company Weight Watchers and it has improved many people’s lives (Wagner). She also knew that if her body was not right than who would listen to her on how to lose weight. The Oprah Winfrey Operating Foundation was initially created in 2007 to give money towards the Leadership Academy for girls in South Africa. People may see Oprah as not just a television personality but a person who gives back to everyone. Oprah is determined to tell people about her abuse and help people push through it like she did. Mainly she wants people to push through was they are going through with abuse the same way she got through it mentally. Oprah gives her time to people by talking about her abuse and sharing her knowledge with others. Oprah has been determined to be where she is now making the money she is making. Oprah has excelled to be one of the most wealthiest women in America. Oprah has made the black society proud by giving back.
