When people age, thinking about nursing homes is a place they never want to go. As of now, the CDC reports having 15,400 nursing homes in America alone, which equals about 1.4 million older adults in those nursing homes (“Nursing Home,” 2016). With having a portion of older adults in the nursing home, who can be the one person they can trust? The person who these older adults look for when an issue or a conflict needs to be solved is an ombudsman. Ombudsman is defined as advocates for residents of nursing homes, board and care homes, and assisted living facilities (“Nursing Home,” 2016).
