Isaiah Mustafa: Old Spices Market Influence

Long before television, multimedia or any other form of massive communication, people have possessed the ability to force their viewpoint onto audiences by using a philosophical approach. Influence means the ability to persuade. People are influenced by a lot of things today: peers, news, teachers, social or community groups, government officials, religious leaders, presidents, and especially the media. Old Spice has been dominating the market of body washes, and now it is the number one body wash and deodorant seller in both sales and volume. Sales in the past few months has dramatically increased. “Smell like a man,Man”
Old Spice commercial has rocked the market place. The actor in the commercial is
Isaiah Mustafa, a former National Football League wide receiver. He speaks in a powerful tone and says “ Hey ladies, can your man look like me? No, but he can smell like me.” This commercial was launched in June 2010; the message had a profound effect in the marketplace. Sales were high and consistent, and the commercial was one of the most talked about commercials in American households. The following are a few statistics: nearly 105 million YouTube views of the campaign, 1.2 billion earned media impressions (including features on national broadcast networks and international media

outlets), 2700% increase in Twitter followers, and an 800% increase in Facebook fan interaction. The Old Spice commercial deliberately used Isaiah Mustafa because he is a handsome wide­know athlete, a former NFL wide receiver who played for the Oklahoma Raiders and a man thats happens to be good in camera. A man with charisma, compelling attractiveness that can inspire,and influence others by his strong presence.
