People have flocked to Germany from all parts of the world to participate in the world's largest annual festival for nearly 200 years. Oktoberfest is enjoyed in one form or another in cities and towns worldwide. This festival is very important in Germany, because, this country is very famous in the world for the excellent beer. The traditional food in this amazing festival is: big sausages with a big tankard, but the tourist may also eat a huge variety of traditional food like: chicken, roast pork, grilled ham hock, grilled fish on a stick, pretzel, potato or bread dumplings, cheese noodles, potato pancakes, a spiced cheese butter spread and a white sausage, although, beer is offered like food. Moreover, people used a traditional Barbarian Drindi costumes during the festival, they have a parade of traditional costumes. Oktoberfest is known as much for its traditional folk music as it is for its beer drinking. The popular is folk music, marches, and polkas. As the evening wears on, the music becomes louder and more and more people begin to sing, linking arms and swinging tankard from side to side, some standing and swaying and dancing on benches or tables. Before each break, the band will offer up "ein Prosit der Gemütlichkeit", a toast to contentment, congeniality, and relaxation. Other the activities is “The barrel opening” that consists in that the Mayor opens the first barrel of the beer, thus, the festival begin, but not before people shout “O’zapft is!.” That’s means, that the festival is open.
