OJT Narrative Experience
III. Summary of the OJT Experience
My experience in Pina Colina Resort was good. I gained so much knowledge that I can apply to my future work. I learned that working is not that easy especially in our field because you need to deal with other people that you don’t even know. We need to be kind to the guests so that we can have a good impression to them. Since this is our first time to do a On-the-Job Training, I need to adjust in the environment. Since the Pina Colina Resort is located in Tagaytay, me and my Classmates are decided to rent a house to stay while we are completing the hours of our Training.
Moving on to the “First day’, my schedule on that day is 9 am - 6 pm. My first task on that day was serving the food in Dining since our Training is specialized in restaurant. I’ve learn how to serve the foods correctly, how to greet guest nicely, how to bus the utensils and plates, etc. Our training was fun. It’s inspiring to do each tasks because we can learn new things.
There were days that seems to be difficult because the training is getting heavy. Our Supervisor ask me to stay on the Dining Area to serve 160 pax. Although I have a Dining Buddy on that day, it was so tiring because you need to bus, and clean those mess up. You just need to be patient when hard times come.
Some days are tiring but some days are not that hard. Because not all days has a guest. In our training, we also gained friends. We laughed, we enjoyed having “chika minute” to the employees of the resort. Also I love the fact that when we are going to have our break time, we can sleep at the attic or do whatever we want. We can eat foods for free. It feels like home when we’re there. Because we can still be what we are while on the training, but we need to remember the reality that were not really at home but we are on the job training.

Some days may be difficult but we can still cope to it because we still enjoying it. I also experienced the days that may seem to be super

I enjoyed the training process the least. I could have had better formal training; however, due to the timing of my arrival, I had to learn as I performed tasks. I started working at James and Sons during Winter Break. Seeing as though this is a busy time of year for everyone and I was fortunate to begin working at this time, I was remained very appreciative and tried to keep up with the employees and all of my daily tasks. When I came back for the summer my training almost completely consisted of trial and error. But, learning from experience proved to be very beneficial.…

Hotel accommodations will be located a short five minute walk from the training site to make things more convenient. Breakfast will be catered and will be open at the riverside life arts building at 9 a.m. before training begins. We think this approach is the best so everyone can learn on a full stomach. This will also give everyone some time to sit and talk with our development team. There will also be a catered lunch directly fallowing training sessions each day. This is to insure that all training was understood by all who attend. If anyone is unsure of proper training please let a team leader know so that a one on one session can be scheduled to fully clarify training of the new system. Each day of training will be approximately five hours in length and we will cover training, questions, and answers.…

To complete the property tour, we looked at the bedroom, comfortably proportioned for a queen sized bed and a floor-to-ceiling closet with a large window facing Paolina Park. The attractive bathroom was functional and came equipped with all the essentials. Lastly, we looked at the garage. Maria Laura informed us that Italians refer to a garage as a “car box”. The car box was large enough to accommodate a mid-sized car, a workbench, and storage for tools and seasonal items. I was overjoyed…

During the training, it is best if the trainee trains with a new trainer each of the five shifts that it takes to graduate from trainee to server. The first day of training, the trainee follows her trainer and takes a test over table numbers. The second shift, the trainee arrives early to learn the computer system with her trainer, then takes orders during the shift and enters them into the computer. She is tested on beer and wine prices, and the promotions that Hooters’ offers. Day three the trainee runs the section for the trainer. The trainer is there is the trainee needs to ask questions or gets overwhelmed. At the end of the shift, she takes the test over the menu and table set-ups. The fourth day, the trainee is hostess, and then takes the final test over all she was taught. On the fifth day of the training, the trainee clocks in as trainee and is able to have a small section in the restaurant and collect tips. The trainer evaluates the trainee after each day and the trainee sits down with the managers to be quizzed on what she was to master during that shift. There is no probation period for the trainee, because once she has completed the fifth day of training, she is able to have a full section in the…

The earlier you can arrive to prepare for the session the better; you may need to set up IT equipment before the trainees arrive. Prepare the room for the session, for activities tables may need to be re-arranged, flip charts moved or they may need to use a Wi-Fi hub. Handouts may need to be positioned ready along with exercises and the resources that are going to be used. Good preparation will allow the session to run more smoothly and look more professional, usually the trainer feels more comfortable and relaxed when they have had prep time (or at least I do).…

My job the first day was stickering the bags and then placing them at each station. The stickers were the expiration date and we would drop them off at each table so the table could fill them up with the food. We actually had to sticker pretty fast to keep up with the people packing the food. The second day was a little different for me. I've done feed my starving children in the past and has always packed the food and never work in the warehouse. I never worked in the warehouse because I was honestly scared because they always said you had to be strong and being honest I thought I was pretty week. The group that was there that day was a bunch of kids so there was only about 5 adults including me so I knew I had to step up and do warehouse. My job was to shovel the grains into a big bin that we place in front of the food packers to cup there food into the bag. It was easy at first but doing it for 5 hours was very hard and safe to say I was actually very sore the next day. I really enjoyed volunteering at Feed My Starving Children, It really confirmed what I wanted to do for my career…
