Oed: A Case Study Of Ethical Dilemmas
I called to Anna, and left voice with the OED phone number where she can file a complaint.

Anna left me a voice message stating that her UC benefits has ended and she has called to OED and just spoke with and representative who admitted the OED made a mistake, but she still needs to wait 4-5 weeks.

She said has proven to them that all the allegations to stop her UC are not true.

Since there is no DHS programs or services complaint or concerns, I will wait a couple of days to see if she still has questions, otherwise, I will close her

At this time, a full overview of this case was given. Which is as follows: I explained the client is in Star plus waiver, a 30 day letter was issued from ASH on 1/6/17 and an MDU slot was requested on 1/6/17 and then again on 1/12/17 as I did not get a returned email that Cindy Pollan had already retired. Nor did I get a returned phone call from her voicemail, which was still active. After speaking with other DADS/HHSC contacts, I got your information and we spoke on 1/25/17. This was the date his slot was released. I spoke to the parents and they selected a provider on 1/31/17. Thus me reaching out to Stacy on 2/1/17. At the time, I explained that ASH did not want to hold the client until 3/1/17 due to no longer meeting medical necessity and why they issued the 30 day letter. This caused an issue, the client cannot return home, ASH needs to dischrge, yet he cannot enroll until 3/1/17 because of the Star plus waiver. I called seeking guidance on if the waiting until the 1st of the month was an HHSC rule that could be reviewed and changed for this special case or was the rule from Medicaid.…

At this point in the conversation Pamela raised her voice and began to discuss issues that she felt she needed assistance with. Pamela indicated that she felt a lack of assistance from SC so SC began to describe the role/responsibility of PCA vs. informal support. Despite SC attempting to diffuse Pamela’s strong feelings, Pamela continued to raise her voice and express great frustration. During this part of the conversation Pamela stated that her mother needs more personal care hours and SC asked if pa had any change in functioning. Pamela reported no changes, therefore SC emphasized the previous plan of including an agency aide or a second friend/family member to act as the DCW on evenings/weekends by utilizing a portion of the hours already in the ISP in order to facilitate respite for Pamela in order to prevent her from becoming further overwhelmed or burnt out. Pamela got more upset and started pointing her figure at SC yelling “I’m not your slave; I’m not your slave”. At this point in the visit, SC left the home so as to reschedule another visit in the near future with POA/DOC/granddaughter, as Pamela was not able to provide necessary information due to her emotional state. Pa did not appear at risk in any way. SC left and called SCS and left a detailed message of what…

    Ethics Case Analysis

This case presents a very typical situation that people encounter while working in the corporate environment. What is ethical, what is morally correct and what is just right out against the law are the questions that we all face while working in a corporate environment. Some of the ethical questions are governed by the law facing the situation. For example while working in an investment bank you most probably have access to inside information about upcoming deals that one could possibly use for personal monetary gain or you could act as a tippie and possibly share that confidential information with others. This kind of a situation is definilety governed by the law and you can actually be charged with various insider trading laws and possibly do some jail time as well. The other situation that is presented in the case is purely about ones ethical and moral standards. The analyst either has to compromise her loyalty towards her company B&B or towards her best friend Lori. While the situation presented is not a real zero-sum game, i.e., one player’s loss does not equal to the gain of the other player. When faced in a situation like this one has to think about what decisions can be made that will have the least affect on the players involved. The analyst should not look at the situation she faces as black or white. She should rather think about other options she might have to retain her friend’s loyalty while not compromising her loyalty towards her current employer. For example, Lori has already been laid off by her current employer, Universal group. The Universal group has already broken certain ethical and moral laws by not informing about the situation to B&B. So can the analyst come up with a situation where she can get Lori immediately and legally hired at B&B and convince her to share the information with B&B. In essence Lori will not have to feel guilty about not keeping the information confidential as has been laid off and the…
