Odysseus and his men (also known as the Ithankans) landed on the Aeaean island. The Aeaean island was ruled by Aeolus, the god of the winds. The Ithankans were welcomed and stayed there for a month. After one month the Ithankans began to depart to Ithka. Before they departed Aeolus gave Odysseus a bag of winds. This bag would help Odysseus and his men on their journey home. Odysseus did not tell his fellow men what the bag contains. As Odysseus and his men were arriving at Ithka Odysseus fell asleep after driving the ship for nine days. While he was asleep the men opened the bag thinking it was some type of treasure. When the bag was opened winds rushed everywhere and blew the ship back undoing the nine days of sailing. Odysseus sailed to…
Malala Yousafzai said, “We were scared, but our fear was not as strong as our courage.” To some people, courage is seen in everyday acts of bravery. When a person does what seems to be a brave act during a calamity, without proper training, it is not bravery. It. Is. Courage. Courage is doing something that is dangerous and noble, but not irrational. It should also make you a better person, or the world a better place.…

In the story of the Odyssey Odysseus returns home after a long trip and finds out their are many people trying to win over his wife. Over the course of twenty years their were over 100 wooers living in his house. When Odysseus finally returns home Penelope has a test for the wooers which blows Odysseus cover. After that he kills all of the wooers and has anybody involved killed also. I think that Odysseus did the right thing. The reason is because if his people were loyal they would not let people win over his wife. Odysseus punishment was not harsh for the people involved either he would have done what the death sentence in some states He hung them for having connection to the wooers. Just the wooers living in his house justified his actions.…
Odysseus is the protagonist of the epic poem The Odyssey, and a hero from the Trojan War years before. The Phaiakians describe him as seeming to be "strong as a bull" (VIII.144), and he sends a discus "beyond all others" (VIII.202) in a throwing competition. While Odysseus is clearly strong, it is his wits that allow him to return home to Ithaka in Books IX and XVI, "Nohbdy’s Smarter".…
Odysseus is an epic hero because of all the challenging obstacles he had to overcome. He is strong and brave by never giving up, but rather determined to fulfill his accomplishments as a young and adventurous man. Odysseus was also very cunning, knowing how to create and form the ideal way to sabotage the Trojans. Such a bold hero and great father that seeks to win the 10 year war with the Trojans and succeeds. Although, weaknesses lye in every man as a human necessity and even this 'Hero' has one.…
One quality that separates Odysseus from the many other heroes of his time is the ability to be clever and cunning. Odysseus shows…
The Greeks idea of a hero is very different from the idea of a hero today. The Greeks saw heroes as someone that was more than life, someone who battled monsters and gods, who did the impossible and went on dangerous quests. Odysseus is one of these heroes. He is a greek hero from the story the odyssey, this man was said to be half god half man, he out tricked the trojans only to find himself on a 20 year trip filled with monsters and gods. He shows leadership “‘friends have we never been in danger?’” (?) and cunning. He defeats the cyclopes and resisted the siren's song. but like every hero in the greeks mythology he has a fatal flaw. Achilles had his heel and odysseys had…
To consider someone a hero, he must boast certain characteristics that are harder to detect in an average person, such as being humble, merciful, loyal, and a great leader. King Odysseus of Ithaca survived the Trojan War. While most of his other men returned to their native lands immediately following the war, it took Odysseus ten years to journey home because of his lust for other women and desire to prove he was superior to everyone. Odysseus and his group of shipmates faced countless obstacles, which claimed the lives of more men as their journey went on. Not only did his procrastination kill off his men, but his mother as well, who longed to see him and gave up when she realized she would never see him again. Through the many actions Odysseus took on his trip home, including murder…
Odysseus was a quick witted man at warfare because he was known for his famous wooden horse trick. He came up with the idea of the "Trojan Horse". But what was his plan? It was to get the Greeks to hide in the Trojan horse and have the people of Troy to open the gates so the Greeks would attack. In my opinion this is a very clever and outstanding idea. All of this lead his men to victory. Which proved that he was intelligent.…
Certainly, people can argue both ways and support their arguments from evidence in the reading. According to our views, Odysseus is definitely one of, if not the one, ideal hero of the ancient Greek world.…
Odysseus relies on his mind more than he does his strength. He is smart enough to know that he cannot overpower Polyphemus when trapped in his cave so Odysseus uses his stupidity against him. Odysseus outwitted him by calling out "Nobody is my name. My father and mother call me Nobody, as do all the others who are my companions" (), Polyphemus takes the bait thus allowing Odysseus to blind him. Odysseus also uses his craftiness by disguising himself and creating a plan to end up with the suitors locked in a room with him so he can kill them one by one. If Odysseus wasn’t clever he would not have been able to accomplish all that he has.…
In the Epic, Odyssey by Homer Odysseus has to save his men and get them home. Odysseus is a modern day hero hero. He qualifies for the job because first he is brave, cunning, and determined. He made smart decisions and knows how to get out of sticky situations. Second he is brave and he is ready for whatever comes his way. Although the ancient greeks consider odysseus a hero epic hero, according Modern day to Ethos and Logos he fails to measure by modern standards.…
Odysseus has the standard qualities that make him a hero; strength, bravery, courage, nobility. He is also the embodiment of the standards and morals of his culture. But his most redeeming quality is his intellect. He proves time and time again that not only is he smart but also extremely clever. He shows this not only by openly evaluating situations but also by outwitting his opponents, such as the Cyclops. He uses this to his advantage, to overcome the obstacles preventing him from returning home. He also uses it in ways, such as lying, stealing and cheating,…
