Nutritional Handout Application Essay
Student will create a minimum of 2 nutritional handouts during the professional study at Kennesaw State University. Nutrition handouts are a superb way to not only explain topics but to tangibly have facts conveniently available for clients when needed. At the Center for Health Promotion and Wellness, handouts are created continually to give attention to campus events, different nutrition diseases or facts, and services offered. Research in food and nutrition is constant; dietitians have to constantly check that sources are both credible and current. Visual appeal and informative design are important in the creation of handouts and these key concepts were kept in mind when creating my nutritional handouts. As her appointment schedule is limited, she will send handouts to students who email her basic questions and tries to help all enrolled students the best she can. The top handouts that were needed for the nutrition services include: ‘Weight Gain,’ ‘Iron,’ Crohn’s Disease,’ Gluten-Free,’ and ‘Sugar-Free.’ I learned a lot through creating these handouts and valuable information that will carry into the work field. When using graphics from yahoo images, labeled for reuse had to be checked to keep Kennesaw State University safe from any legal action. I used different word art and image formats to tilt, sharpen, blur edges, and make titles that would pop and make the reader want to grab it and read it. All handouts were first created in Microsoft Word. Once approved by the dietitian, they were saved into a pdf document and transferred from my personal mac computer onto the university’s PC computer into the nutrition services folder for Bethany to keep on hand. Two formats were saved for the nutrition services.
