Nursing Self Assessment Report
On the Utica College career services website under FOCUS I completed multiple self-assessments. The first part of the self-assessment was under the category career readiness. One of the assessments was on my career planning status. I have realized that I have done very little career exploration. On that part of the assessment I scored a 1.83. A 1 is not prepared, a 3 is more prepared, and a 5 is very prepared. Another part of the assessment was career planning satisfaction. I scored a 2.83 on this section. The final section was titled, self-assessment. I scored a 3.33 on this section. For my self-assessment and career planning satisfaction I had a medium score. This score indicates that I need to stay more actively involved in my career planning …show more content…
The description of social was “People in the social category prefer to work with others. They tend to be highly verbal, express themselves well, and get along well in groups. Social types typically prefer the team approach to problem solving. People in the social category often describe themselves as cooperative, friendly, and understanding. They generally enjoy teaching, caring for others, volunteering, mediating disputes, meeting new people, and working in groups.” This is a perfect description of some of the aspects I believe are part of being a nurse. Seeing these results are reassuring knowing nursing is the career I intend to pursue. Another assessment I took was a skills assessment. I had to choose my top 3 skills they were helping: actively looking for ways to help people, listening: paying attention to what other people are saying and taking time to understand the points being made, and social perceptiveness: being aware of the reactions of others, and understanding why they react the way they do. Once again after taking this assessment nurse practitioner appeared

Assessment is a vital aspect of nursing care. Assessment is the first phase of the nursing process. A thorough assessment involves gathering information and data about and related to the patient. The data that is collected includes physiological, psychological, environmental, sociocultural, economical, spiritual, and developmental history of the patient. Data may be objective or subjective. Objective data refers to the measurable and observable signs, such as the patient’s heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, temperature, facial expression, gait, color, etc. Subjective data is obtained from the patient himself and it is the patient’s account of their…

All written information could be prepared at a reading level appropriate for the general population. New packages for patient information prior to their first clinic visit could be very useful to them. 1. The results of my assessment are partly what I expected. I know I want to go into the field of oil and gas and I does not matter how I get there. I may or may not change my major depending on how I do in my current major and do not plan on making any big career decision changes in the foreseeable future. I believe that I am on the right path, even if I may need to get some help to get where I want to go I do believe I will get there. I plan on taking over my family’s business so that gives me real drive to achieve what I want. Some academic and career goals of mine would be to make it through school with a degree that I want, and a career goal is to become successful and make my business a profitable business. I will measure my successful completion quite simply, for my academic goal its all about if I make it through school and as for my career goal I will measure my success my being able to provide for my family and give them everything that they need and be able to live comfortably. None of my goals have changed since my assessment results; I still want to go into oil and gas. My career path at the moment is taking over my family’s business and running it successfully. I’ve learned many things about myself and my current approach to career-related decisions as a result of the career readiness inventories. I learned a lot about my current career and educational goals such as which job I wanted to further. My education plans would include developing my math skills, increase my writing abilities, and overall success in every subject. It has also shown me that I want to get a success job that mostly relates to mathematics, most likely an accountant or engineer. It also showed my academic strengths and weaknesses. It indicated that I exceled mostly in mathematics but also in computers and technology. It also showed that I might be interest in Business and Physical education because it indicated that I would do pretty well. While filling out these career readiness inventories I got to reflect on not only my academic success but also my career and work success. I listed my two past jobs working at cracker barrel followed by Panera Bread, but also asked about my education accomplishments such as honor roll and upper level classes such as AP English in High school. It also showed me about career Exploration which allows me to compare and evaluate occupations and major areas of study that appeal to you. I received a low score which tells me that I am not very interested in career exploration. Another thing I have learned that I need no little to any improvement in completing tasks, communicating and acting truthfully, and being…
