Nintendo Stock Market
The stock market is a market in which shares of publicly held companies are issued and traded either through exchanges or over the counter markets. When I first began my journey in the stock market game I was hesitant on which stocks to purchase. After consulting with my partner we both agreed to invest in a company that we have regularly purchased from for years. The company we decided on was Nintendo. Nintendo is a company known for gaming systems, such as the Wii and Nintendo DS. When choosing this stock I considered my history with the company and upon reflection I realized my first personal purchase of Nintendo occurred in kindergarten and I have regularly continued to purchase from this company ever since. All of these reasons are what persuaded me to invest in a company that I had previous knowledge of and knew would continue to prosper. Unfortunately, when we went to invest in this stock it was not available in the game. Therefore we then moved on in our search to the company Walt Disney. We thought Walt Disney would be a great stock to own because the holidays are approaching and reports show how Disney is at it’s busiest during the Thanksgiving and Christmas season, therefore generating large revenues. Also, I was personally inclined to pick Disney because I have owned my own share of stock in this company since I was eight years old and it has profited me throughout the years. Our technique of using our prior knowledge in companies we were familiar with immensely helped us grow our portfolio. Overall, our reason for picking Disney was solely based on what we knew and did not incorporate the interesting, profitable technique of Peter Lynch. Peter Lynch created the idea of what is called a “blended” approach to picking stocks. Basically this approach encourages the user to first pick a company in which they have personal knowledge and experience
