Nieces and Nephews: Gift for Life
I know that everyone one of you have that special someone or something that you hold close to your heart. Mine just so happens to be my nieces and nephews, Yes, all eight of them. I have three nieces (Nadia, Katie) who are ages ten, ten, and five, their beautiful but man are they some divas. As for my nephew’s, I have five of them, the oldest one (Antonio) who would be eleven passed away shortly after birth due to SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome) two of them are ten (Marcos, Nick), one is three (Brydon), and last but not least one who’s almost one (José jr, boy oh boy are they something. All they ever talk about is takis; takis are something like hot Frito chips smothered in hot sauce, they could live on these things.
Having nieces and nephews has taught me a new thing in life; it gave me a whole new meaning of loving someone. My nieces and nephews are my everything, hearing them call me their auntie dede brings the biggest smile on my face. Even if they are mouthy, and have attitudes. The feeling I get when I’m around them is absolutely amazing.
Best things about having nieces and nephews are, being able to spoil them rotten then send them back packing to their mommas. Being around them makes me wonder what kind of mother I would be for my own kids one day.
For those who have nieces and nephews, think about this? Have you ever sat back and wondered how cool it was to see such a beautiful blessing be born then now realize their have your size? My life is complete with these precious gifts in my life.

I never imagined that one little, tiny human could change my life. I know they say that the second you see your child, you’ll experience a love that you’ll have experienced before. Although I didn’t have a child, the birth of my little sister sure allowed me to experience this love. At the ripe age of 13, I was beyond excited for my mom to have a baby. While I already had two siblings, they were closer to me in age. I was finally going to be able to take care of a baby, and there was nothing that I was more excited about.…

My cousins and I would always be together, Literally 24/7. Sometimes we would fight and i look back and remember and i think it's the funniest thing in the world, we still bring our little arguments up to this day to have a real good laugh, but having so many different personalities around made my life so much fun. If we weren't outside playing with the water hose getting in trouble with our great grandmother for wasting water or playing tag or Hide And Go Seek, We’d be inside watching cartoons while our Aunts were having extremely loud Conversations in the kitchen and the Men were outside talking about football or something. My favorite memory of my childhood was when i would get to go to my grandmother's house every Saturday with my close family around to eat either Barbacoa or homemade Menudo.…

Growing up with these kinds meant a lot to me. I loved the authority of being able to direct the children, or being the mediator when they would fight. I even remember when some of them were born. One in particular, which I remember so vividly, was when Nicole was born. I was about six or seven. We went to Cedar Sinai in Beverly Hills to visit her parents, Mariam and Joseph, as well as to see her for the very first time. I loved children so much that these kids werent just family friends to me, they were like my own brothers and sisters looking up to me as their role model.…

Since I was 10 years old I have not been fond of children as I had to help my mom take care of my three sisters. Deep down I love children, but had come to dislike them because I thought they were suffocating the life out of me, and I was still just a child myself. When I was 16 I found out that it would be near to impossible for me to have children of my own and I became very upset. Being around my sisters made it worse, so I began to distance myself from them. When I graduated, I was offered a trip to Alaska with my Aunt and Uncle. Another reason my older sister is my favorite sister is that she is compassionate. She has great sympathy for other people’s suffering. For instance, she often tries to help poor and homeless people by donating food, clothes, money, etc. She used to work as a volunteer for in a school for the blind children in Vietnam. I still remember when I saw her taught those children to read by touching the special characters. She patiently held her students’ hand and instructed them. Although it was not an easy job, her face was always radiant with smiles. She often told me to give what I got, and to feel happy helping others. My sister cares deeply about other people more than herself.…
