As an aspiring science student, what I need the most is an active community where I can grow and contribute. The first time I found this environment was after being recruited by a biologist to work at her laboratory on a project of my interest. Biological Research became something very important that I plan to continue for the rest of my life. I concentrated my research on the ways in which nicotinic cholinergic neurotransmission works on an organism’s simple nerve net to, later on, compare it to human’s nervous system. One of the most appealing characteristics of New York University is its multiple research opportunities. After finding out that at NYU, students are allowed to create their own clubs; I knew this was the perfect way to recruit …show more content…
My dream is to serve my community as an active research doctor who is able to help and communicate important information in multiple languages, one of them being Korean. New York University supports every little detail of my future aspirations. Not only does the university offers the opportunity to grow in science skills, but it also offers a study abroad program that would help me learn the Korean language while immersing myself in the Korean culture. Few schools offer Korean as a foreign language, yet NYU provides courses even in Korean History specifically. The fact that New York University has affiliations with two of the top three universities in South Korea fascinated me even more.

Throughout my high school years, history has been a course that rarely captured my attention. Therefore, I want my university to have diversity within its curriculum. NYU offers me the chance to chose a history class that I enjoy. Focus my effort on satisfying my deep curiosity instead of merely getting a good grade because I need it. The uniqueness and variety of courses at New York University are impressive. Aside from the vibrant and beautiful location of New York University, these are the kind of opportunities that made me put my heart in this

Samuel Clemens advised “Go to bed early, get up early-this is wise”, and by appreciating the soundness of his words, rarely, if ever, do I find myself in the chaos of late morning traffic. By accomplishing little everyday small tasks such as getting up early in time for a healthy breakfast or studying in motivating environments allows me to be extremely productive and effective as a student at the Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC). For the past seven months, I’ve held an environmental specialist internship at the Santa Rosa Water Department that goes hand-in-hand with my dedication and efforts at the junior college. Over the past two years, it has been my pleasure to participate in courses and to become a part of the SRJC culture. I am motivated and eager to continue to develop a strong background of calculus, general chemistry, biology and critical thinking, and expanding physics, engineering and organic chemistry. My overarching education goal is to receive a bachelors of science in environmental engineering or hydrologic science. My top three universities of choice are UC Berkley and Cal Poly for their environmental engineering programs and UC Santa Barbara for hydrologic…

Over the years, the resources afforded to me through these institutions have played a critical role in supporting my intellectual and personal growth. Moreover, the enduring relationships I have formed with alumnae, have informed my belief on the importance of female mentorship. My parents, like countless immigrants, relocated my family of five in pursuit of the highly sought after “American Dream.” The excitement quickly wore off once I was confronted with the realization that we will now be residing in a one bedroom, one bathroom basement apartment in Brooklyn, New York. While my parents attempted to provide for my brothers and me, I undertook the task of mastering the English language. In contrast to my classmates, my learning recommenced after school; I spent countless hours reviewing index cards struggling to obtain a grasp of the English language. For added support I attended an English as a second language class, where I received one on one attention. The alienation from the classmates that surpassed me with ease triggered feelings of inadequacy; this only fueled my determination to succeed.…
