Nature Vs Nurture Theory Essay
What drives a person to be successful? Some say that it's the individual's “Nature”, or, in other words, how the person was born. While some kids are very adaptable, some kids aren't as fortunate and their neighborhood may have a major impact in their adult life. Others say that it's the environment that influences their success, this is the “Nurture” theory. Being affluent and and frail are big factors in the nurture theory.
The “Nature” theory is arguing that individuals are born with a bad behavior, and has nothing to do with the environment the individual is put in, which will not affect their success in life. Researchers Bakermans-Kranenburg and Marinus van Ijzendoorn believe a “risk allele” may be to blame for bad behavior and lower levels. Although the “risk allele” was found during their studies, they found a “protective allele”. A third of the kids in their study had the risk allele and the other two thirds had the protective allele. This protective allele made the kids “less vulnerable to bad environments”, according to David Dobbs in the article “The Science of Success”. Kids with this protective allele are more mercurial, and are able to adapt to the environment they are put into with ease. Nurture” theory is fairly simple. The “Nature” theory is suggesting that the way you are born is the way you will stay, and has nothing to do with your early life. It’s almost as natural as a eroding volcano, it does not change due to its surroundings, it overcomes them, making its flow inevitable and not stopping for any obstacle in the way, not even the environmental factors.
