National Honors Society
As you grow up, you learn many lessons from the adults around you, soaking in every gesture, word, and action. As a child, you strive to be your parents, or better yet, your older sister. I am the youngest of four. I have two older brothers, and an older sister, all of them have influenced my life and given me the motivation to work harder to be the students, leaders, and good people that they are today. However, growing up in a big household can bring confusion to who you truly are. Over the years, you fight for attention (or with each other), and it is easy to lose who you are along the way. Within myself, I have found someone with leadership qualities, perseverance, personality, and good-citizenship. Over the many years these activities have been a part of it, music and dance have influenced my life in a positive way. Both type of arts are very demanding. They require long hours of practice a day, which teaches you a lot of about perseverance, and time management. Music and dance have also given me opportunities for community service. The Orange County Ballet Theatre puts on The Nutcracker every December. After it ends, we dance for three separate nursing homes, which is always a pleasure for the residents. The Advanced Dance Company at NFA does community events as well including, two separate trips to Fostertown to dance and help out with the younger elementary students and hosting a dance benefit to raise money for a young girl with medical problems. In addition to this, I altar serve at my church on Sundays, teach oboe lessons at GAMS, and have attended two separate science fairs for volunteer work. I am currently Vice President of Wind Ensemble, and plan to be president of Music Council next year, as well as a senator for the Senior Class. Being a part of an honor society is not only about being a good citizen and giving back to your community, but also being a leader in everything you do. National Honors Society will give me more motivation to earn

Here are some examples of my service to my community. During my 8th grade year in Elena Christian Jr. High School, both my classmates and I, we decided to do a beach cleanup. We chose the beach across from Water Gut. It was a wonderful experience because I was able to help out my community in a positive way. I volunteer and participate with the Junior Meteorology Club of Elena L. Christian Junior High School. I help with certain fundraisers such as; bake sales, car washes and collecting donations. I like to be there for people who are in need because it shows people that I am a caring and loving person. I also volunteered at the Agriculture Fair of 2010. I was helping out the Virgin Islands Police Department booth, assisting the police cadets, police officers, lieutenants and as well as the commissioner.
