Honor Society Accomplishments
Recently I was asked to join the Honor Society. At the beginning I was skeptical because I had no clue what it was or its use. But then I had my mom explain it to me. Honor Society will help me get into a good college and expand my knowledge. But to join this group, I had to think ‘Am I ready for this commitment? Am I going to be able to sustain the required GPA?’ After some thought, I decided, I am ready and able. The only thing standing in my way now, is a paper, this paper to be exact, on my activities, achievements, and positive traits.
I’ve been involved in many different kinds of activities from Tae Kwon Do (a Korean martial art) to cross-country and volleyball to guitar and choir. The only one of those activities I am currently involved in, however, is guitar. I had quit those other activities after I had lost interest in them. But guitar is in activity that has helped me in many different ways. It has pushed me to learn to decipher notes by ear, change the way songs are played to make them easier for me, and taught me the importance of practice. Guitar has helped me become more

I’m a very quick learner. If I struggle with getting a technique down the first few times, I quickly adapt to find a way to make it work for me (I do this quite often in my guitar class). I’m a very passionate person when I believe in something strongly enough, I will defend my opinion and try to get others to see the situation in the same light that I do. I’m also a very creative and artistic person; I love art, drawing, and music. I may not necessarily be the best at drawing, singing or playing my guitar, but I love to do it anyway because it makes me happy, especially when I can hear/see my improvement.
Being in Honor Society would be such an amazing opportunity. I believe that I deserve to be in this group. I am qualified and willing to work as hard as I have to. I think that Honor Society will be a great way to help better

I would love to be in the National Honor Society, I was a part of the National Junior Honor Society at Sawtooth Middle School and I enjoyed it very much. I had so much fun being apart of the NJHS and that group of people. I love being apart of my community and being able to take action. One reason you should consider me for NHS is volunteering is a big part of my life already. I volunteer at Meridian Elementary and at the Boise Humane Society. At Meridian Elementary I help in the library with the classes and book fairs. I walk and play with the dogs at the Boise Humane Society with my friends. I am also in the Upward Bound program where we volunteer at the Boise Food Bank and the Boise Rescue Mission. I work extremely hard to keep my GPA up…

The Honors Program grabbed my attention because it’s for academically outstanding students and I am that student. Throughout my years of high school, I have taken Advanced Placement and Honors classes and have done very well in them. Being average is not okay for me, I want to do my best and reach my fullest potential in everything I do. I like being challenged mentally and that is exactly what the Honors Program will do for me. In the Honors Program I will be able to engage in social and cultural seminars that I know I will thoroughly enjoy. I have been a part of Diversity Club where different cultures come together to share ideas, exchange food, and get to know more about each others’ culture, so I have an idea of what seminars are like. I am a very outgoing person and I love to meet and interact with new people so through these seminars and projects I will be able to do that. I would also like to get a broader perspective on the world and throughout the many different projects, I will gain that. I read about the Honors Program and what will be done throughout the four years and I thought to myself that this is where I belong, I will fit right in. I want to accomplish many things that this program will allow me to and greatness is what I would like to aim for. The Honors Program at John Carroll University brings together one of the most gifted, diverse, and active groups of people not only on campus, but in the country and I would like to be a part of that, something…

The MHS Honor Society would benefit from my membership because I am involved in many activities, take challenging courses in school, and have been volunteering all of my life. I am involved in sports including cross country, track and field, and multiple intramurals. In cross country, there are no elected captains, but rather we are expected to step up and become leaders. I have stepped up and become a leader over the past couple of years. I have planned summer running, ran with my team to make them better, and also encouraged them all to do their best. I won the MVP and Jesse Citrowski Heart of the Tiger Award. I am also involved in other activities such as, knowledge bowl, which I was voted co-captain, Link Crew, Marshall ACTS, Tiger Activities…

Another wonderful thing about honor classes is that we have also been allowed to work in groups; and by doing so, we will be better prepared for the workforce where such skills will be needed. I have also discovered several mentors through the honors program, all of who have helped me in a myriad of ways. Some continue to help me through my life, encouraging me whenever I am consumed with self doubt. Some professors even go as far as to advise me on what I need to accomplish in the future in order to obtain my goals. Others are there for me in more academic ways, and assist me whenever I am struggling with a concept. This is a delightful attribute to the honors program, as such characteristics are not always found throughout the campus. Lastly, although it is not yet my past nor my present another event that I believe will benefit me greatly is the Tennessee Collegiate Honors Conference. This event will provide to me experience in academic public speaking which is something I will need to be able to do in my future career. All of these factors have come together to make my time spent in the honors program beneficial to my future; moreover, my time here has overall been both gratifying and…
