Our country has been through so much in the past to fight for what we have today, people have risked their lives for you to have an even better one and for you not even acknowledge the importance of the sacrifices they made for you and everyone else, is disgraceful. New Orleans Saints quarterback, also disagreed with the fact that it’s a disrespectful to not stand up during the National Anthem, he stated, “[I]t’s an oxymoron that you’re sitting down, disrespecting that flag that has given you the freedom to speak out.” How could you put no honor towards the flag? It has been argued that Colin Kaepernick kneeling while the National Anthem is playing, is absolutely ridiculous, is not showing support for love of this country, and not showing support to the veterans. In “The Perilous Fight,” Jim Brown, a NFL Hall of Famer and a civil rights activist. Told Time, “I would not do anything that has to do with respecting the flag or the national anthem. I don’t think it’s appropriate.” In other words Jim Brown would challenge the normal of standing for the Anthem, no matter the severity of the situation. For this reason opponents argue that Colin Kaepernick kneeling down is not right for him to be testing the flag; but it’s not also right for the police of America to be able to go on a killing spree and have…

The take a knee movement is not the first protest the National Anthem has seen, it is just the latest in a long history of “unpatriotic behavior.” Perhaps the most infamous protest was a result of the black power salute held by Tommie Smith and John Carlos in the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City, “they didn’t [take a knee]. Instead they raised a fist” (Brown). The Civil Rights movements of the 1960s and 1970s were a time of upheaval for various minority groups of American society, including the black rights movement. Holding a fist instead of placing a hand over the heart got the gold and bronze medals respectively strip from Smith and Carols, for calling attention to real problems that still exist in our country. These brave men “wore beads and a scarf to protest lynchings. And when the national anthem was played, they lowered their heads in defiance and raised their fists in a Black Power salute that rocked the world” (Brown). These acts of defiance have set a stage for other individuals to speak out again the injustice plaguing our society. The downplay of such circumstances is unpatriotic and inhumane, more so than refusing to stand during the National…

Picture yourself in a museum and you see a flag with four red stars with white borders and a union jack. Then you say that's Australia's flag. You are not completely wrong. New Zealand's flag has a similarity with Australia. This is Australia's flag: union jack and five stars that are white. We could accidentally put the Australian flag in a zeppelin and show it in an special e.g we won the international soccer tournament. Why did Australia's flag get shown instead of NZ? Because NZ’s flag looks a lot much like Australia. I guarantee that you will feel like the NZ flag should change after you have read this.…

In the article Trump to “NFL Protests: Standing with locked arms is good, kneeling is not acceptable” by Caroline Kenny, the author explains that Donald Trump used a very harsh language against the NFL players that took a knee during the national anthem. In the article “Seahawks, Titans, Steelers Stay in Locker Rooms during National Anthem as More Players Protest” by Katherine Iam, the author will explain the same thing and also states how Donald Trump kept tweeting about the NFL players that knelt during the national anthem and said that all the players need to be fired and wanted them to get out of the field. I personally believe that standing for the flag should not be mandatory especially in the U.S., because it is known as a country where…

What Does the American Flag Mean Anymore? Among all of the current conflicts that have arisen in the United States, minor conflicts such as the issue of U.S citizens not respecting the American flag anymore, should also be addressed. The American flag stands for justice, purity, perseverance, and freedom; all of which this country has paid a large price to earn. At the cost of many lives, freedom was won, yet few people acknowledge this.…

And so, it seems as if uncertainty rings through the golden, sweetened atmosphere of the United States of America. For you, my fellow Americans, I have but one question: Is this what American revolutionists sought for when they died to gain Independence? Is this what the Union fought to keep together? Is this what Franklin D. Roosevelt sacrificed his wellbeing for? Is this what ladies and gentlemen of the Union suffer to preserve day after day?…

"Conformity is the jailer of freedom and the enemy of growth,"-John F. Kennedy. The king of Great Britain was imposing taxes on us without our consent. He cut off all of our trades with the world, and he has abdicated government here, by declaring us out of his protection and waging war against us. The question is if gaining our independence is a good idea or not? I believe we should allow him to cut all connections with us because that way we can enforce our own laws and grow as a fair country where everyone votes and are all equal. Gaining our independence will take time which we will make it without Britain.…

Being an American, I am a true believer that our flag should not be desecrated in anyway, especially by our own citizens. When thinking of the American flag it is more than just a flag to many Americans, it is a symbol of those who have fought for us to have the rights and freedoms we have today, represents those who have died in battle, and the pride we have in our country. When and if someone desecrates our flag I believe they should be punished.…
