Parties in a Small Town
Every weekend there is a party somewhere. Whether it is out at the "river road," the lake, or even at someone's house, it is the "cool place" to be. Years ago, I arrived at the Halloween dance, at the school, not wearing a costume but expecting to have a great time with all of my friends dancing and listening to music. I overheard someone talking about a party that was going to start at Nick's house. Being invited to go with all of my friends, I didn't want to be the wimp of the group, so I decided to go along. I drove away from the school thinking that I would only stay for a little while at the party.

Pulling into the driveway, I instantly knew that this wasn't a “good idea”. My hands were shaking, and I had goose bumps all over my arms and legs. "What if my parents find out?" I thought. How would I be able to explain being at a party to them? I was supposed to be at the school dance. I looked at the trailer and saw people going in and out. Can I still leave? I was going to leave. However, I stepped out of my car and could hear the music playing from someone's system. It was the song "Another One Bites the Dust" by the band Queen.

The aroma of the trailer could be smelt outside, the sweet smell of blueberry blunts, and the Jack Daniels was being circulated like popcorn at a baseball game. I looked inside and saw people sitting on a dark pumpkin-colored couch playing cards. They were hanging out in the kitchen. People were going to and from the small, apartment size refrigerator popping the tops off of their beers and letting them fall on the floor which was covered in dirt, pieces of broken dry wall, and glass from a broken window. The looks on people's faces were that of sheer fun, they were making fools out of themselves, and, even if they hated it, they weren't going to stop.

I found Nick, who was gloating with the thoughts of his fantastic party, and behind him rose a voice that I

I am one of many students who come from small-town U.S.A. with huge aspirations. I have a great desire to depart from my home in order to pursue my dreams. My passion is to become a script/screenwriter for film companies that include; Walt Disney and Pixar Studios. These aspirations came from a small town I call home. Growing up in a small town is not difficult but it can be irritating. When I was younger I believed that my town was a dreadful prison and desired to escape its repulsive grip that it held on me. This town presented itself with nothing except for a Wal-mart and a few fast food restaurants and the nearest mall was thirty minutes away in another state. And as I advanced in years, I continued to believe that all this town…

Around 11pm, people started walking in. It was packed with people that I can barely walk anywhere. This is normal which the entire freshmen come here after school, so it is always full of people on Thursday night. The atmosphere was really fun, people started talking and dancing. I went to a corner to see around, there were girls and guys dressing in nice clothes ready to hit the dance floor. The bartender started to sell drinks, that when the guys started to buy girls drink. My friends were all there, so we started to have a little fun too. It was awesome; we were all turned up at around…

Dad said midnight and unless Darrell could fly, I was headed for real trouble. Darrell and I chose to go to county fair and like every cliché couple, we had it set to go at sundown in order to get the perfect Instagram post. Luminous pinks, yellows, and blues sparkled a mile out as we caught our exit to enter the fair grounds. Vibrations under our toes grew heavier and heavier as we got closer to the entrance and with a $12 stamp on our right hand we ventured out on running feet. We spent our night soaring high and low with dangling feet, carrying weightless bags of fluffy, crystallized sugar as heavy gusts of wind hosed us leaving the aroma of fresh, crisp funnel cakes. Captivated by parading aisles of games had us lose complete track of time.…

I looked at my mom, then at the seat next to her. Dad couldn’t come because of a meeting, but I didn’t care! I couldn’t hold myself together, I felt like I was going to explode into little sparkles of excitement. My excitement is about to burst out of my chest. I’m going on an airplane! Then I heard a horrendous sound like nails on a chalkboard, my body jerked forward, I smelt the metal nasty smell of blood, lastly darkness closed in on me, tight.…

It was a bright sunny day outside and I could hear the sound of the ocean waves and seagulls. The water was rising and recoiling. I was rushing from the parking lot to the beach. I was hosting a party for four really important people and I was really excited and nervous because these four people were from opposite backgrounds. My guests were Lilly Singh, Katniss Everdeen, Demi Lovato, and Tris Prior. They were so different from each other that I didn’t know how this would end up but I remembered an old saying “Opposites Attract”. I wanted everything to be perfect and nothing should mess up. I had set up everything for example the games and the food. Though we will be mostly be in the water and we will be doing boat racing…

My second outside event is based on an African dance show that I attended with a few girls on my soccer team. I had decided to go because my professor from my dance class had recommended it. At first I really did not want to go. I thought it was going to be boring and a waste of time. On the other hand my friend Cali from dance class kept begging me to go with her. She would not stop telling me how much fun she thought it would be. Eventually I gave in and over time I actually got a little excited. I asked all around who was going and I found out a few girls from my soccer team were so we all decided to go together in a big group. When the time finally came we all dressed up very nicely and went on our way. Everyone was super excited as we…

Growing up in a Christian family who went to church every Sunday and Wednesday, and any day we could in between didn’t leave much time to act up. Being the oldest and having two younger sisters that looked up to me left a lot of responsibility that at times seemed like more than I could handle. I grew up in a very loving home with both my dad and mom in my life. My parents always made sure that I surrounded myself with good friends and they also made sure before I could ever hangout with them that they had parents they could trust. I have been a part of two amazing churches growing up with two incredible preachers that I have taught me a lot of what I know today. It was a cool summer evening going into senior year with a slight breeze sliding over our scalps. The branches were swaying ever so calmly at the park on the Texas Track. I was with my cousin James who I always looked up too growing up, but now resented. He was the kid who always knew what to say and had a demeanor that was cool to the touch. With the long hair, gauges, and cool skate clothes. I wanted to be just like that. I was raised in private school so I had no sense of style, seeing what he wore and what he did really had an impression on me. He said there was going to be a party and wanted me to go with him. I was really bored and decided to give it a shot.…

In my youth I was a wild child. I say wild child because I was careless and lacked respect for rules as well as authority. My wild characteristic carried into my first year of college at Bloomfield College, New Jersey. Now as a freshman one would care about one’s grades and college career, however I didn't truly care. My care was more focused on the moments in life that we will never get back and the concept of owning up to one’s actions if they endanger another individual. My friend Robert from Long Island, New York, had an entertaining proposition for me that he vowed would be most memorable. This proposition was that we take a road trip to West Virginia to visit some friends that he had down there. Later I had found out that he had met these friends of his in West Virginia through the online computer game World of Warcraft, not physically face to face.…

Everything was peaceful. The day went as smooth as butter. I walked out of the office from a hard and exhausting day at work. I sold three houses, did six 100-page reports, and sucked up to the boss for that little bit extra in my pay check. I walked into my house I shared with my best friend and housemate Madeline. “Hey Madi, I am so exhausted! The boss had me working non-stop today. Ugh I can't wait for tonight.” You see tonight was my 22nd birthday. I was ready to party in style. I already had a limo and a private bar ready for my friends and me. My friends for life included: my husband and bestie Adam Rouge, second in command Ralphie Bontalone, my all time party gal Stephanie Cortez, and of course my all time would not be able to survive without my Madeline.…
