The Year I spent Easter Sunday in the Hospital To me Easter Sunday has always been a very important holiday. My whole family always gets together to celebrate it. We always go to the Ranch, and have lots of activities, and many kinds of delicious food. In the spring of 2010 I was expecting my first baby. It was a great feeling, but it turned out that his due date was on Holy Friday , just two days before Easter Sunday. I had been feeling great during my hole pregnancy, so when I had my 39th week visit to the Doctor, and he asked me if I wanted to induce labor or wait for another week, I didn't hesitate to chose to wait. Why? Because I didn't want to miss Easter. The day of my due date I woke up, and I discovered some bleeding, I didn't have any pain or discomfort. I called the Doctor's office, and it was closed for the Holiday. The answering service lady said to go to the emergency room if I felt pain, and I didn't, so I continued my day normally. I went to Nuevo Laredo with my Mom, we had lunch with my niece for her birthday. Later after having lunch I started getting contractions, but they were mild, so I decided we should stop to buy the groceries for Sunday, and get the cookies for next week when I gave birth, then when we were at Soriana the contractions started to get stronger, and we had to go back right away to Laredo, TX. As I was waiting in the bridge to cross it, I called my husband, so he would be ready to take me to the Hospital, but I couldn't reach him. I started calling, and calling, now I was rushed, after being relaxed all day. When I got home I prepared everything to go to the hospital, but since I didn't wanted to miss Easter, I was hoping they would send me back home. As I was leaving to the hospital my Mom wanted to go with me and my husband, and I even said “just go home, I'm sure they'll send me back home right away”, oh I was so

One would think that purchasing your first home would be a very fascinating experience; after all it is one of the most major purchases of your entire life. In America, home ownership ties in with the American Dream and the spirit of working hard to one day earn through hard work a home with a white picket fence. My husband and I felt that it was time for us to reward ourselves for all the hard work we have been putting in over the years by purchasing our first home, which was well overdue. I quickly learned the process of purchasing your first home can be very frustrating and stressful. However, if you survive the home buying process the reward is priceless once you move into your “American Dream.”…

There can be major physical changes and effects to a female’s body after having a child. In 2011 when I had my son the hospital gave me an epidural for the pain; they did the shot too high up on my back. As far as anyone knew I was fine. I showed no signs of problems until after I got out of the hospital, when I started having back spasms due to the fact that the epidural was done incorrectly. The female body goes through many natural changes; it prepares itself to be capable of having a child naturally and being capable of breastfeeding babies. It can also cause other effects that are not necessarily normal changes to the female body, for me the two main changes that I had were being anemic and having a hyperthyroid. The doctors told me that I was anemic because I had lost too much blood during labor and that the hyperthyroid was a result of my body changing after having my son but that it was nothing to worry about.…

I can still remember the day the doctors told me I was pregnant. That immediate sense of fear swallowed me whole and time seemed to stand still. It was not until a couple of months later that I realized there was no changing the situation and that I needed to make the very best of it. Finding out I was pregnant started out as a very scary experience but ultimately was one of the most positive and rewarding experiences I have ever endured. After the fear settled a little bit I was able to really start thinking about my life and what I needed to change. Up until that day at the doctors I was living day by day doing what I needed to do for me and no one else. I had no job, I was living with my parents and my only source of excitement came from the local bar rooms late at night. I knew things needed to change and I set out on a mission to make that change happen. Alone and afraid I was able to swallow my pride and ask my family for help and the guidance to get my life back on track before this baby entered our world. All through my pregnancy I knew I loved my unborn son more than I have ever loved anything in this world. I knew that my life was no longer mine…

People underestimate the competitiveness and risks that go along with cheerleading. Some also do not consider it a sport, which is an unfortunate opinion. I took a tremendous risk when I decided to join the cheerleading team in seventh grade, although I had neither prior experience in cheerleading nor any sport for that matter. Being lanky and uncoordinated for most of my elementary years caused me to avoid any type of sports for the fear of embarrassment and failure. However, cheerleading appealed to me, because I admired the girls' and guys' bravery when it came to the challenging skills and routines.…
