Can someone with a lot of talent be successful in the entertainment industry? Researchers Sommerlund and Strandvad asked this question and found that talent alone will not suffice. Sommerlund and Strandvad argued that an important aspect fell within the performance of the person seeking to break into the industry. Performance was broken down into three categories, identification, self-technology and materialization. “Identification is recognition of potentiality by evaluating others. Self-technology is emphasizes the work that talented person performed. Materialization shows that talent is produced through attachments to collaborators” (Sommerlund & Strandvad, 2012, pp. 191-192). The category that is of most relevance is the third one, materialization. This category is all about the perception. The perception lies heavily on the person evaluating the person hoping to gain success in the entertainment industry. A good perception would require nonchalance. The person looking to book projects needs to act in a casual manner so that they can be perceived in a positive competent…

Another talent that makes me unique is writing poetry. I write to express myself, and to let loose what’s on my mind. My poems incorporate who I am, experiences I’ve had, and what makes me. Everyone has there reasons for writing poetry. When I write I always have in mind people who inspire me, how much I’ve grown in poetry and how I want to continue to grow as a person and poet. No one has the same reasons for gaining inspiration from someone who inspires you, that’s why I repeat we all have things in common but no one is exactly the same.…

Developing a skill is not easy and may require several different methods to be tested before an ideal technique is found. I had taken many ineffective approaches, from singing lessons with Angela Knight, who had me sing Disney songs instead of working on core fundamentals, to joining a choir at my mom's church, with a handful of kids yelling at the top of their lungs rather than producing beautiful melodies. I struggled to find a technique that would help me develop my talent. The journey I took to develop my talent was quite strenuous. After the long period of searching, I realized that my dad had been right all along. If I ever wanted to use my talent, I would need to develop it. Development would be difficult, but I was ready for whatever it…
