Belief and connectedness go hand and hand for me. I believe things happen for a reason, I have decent morals and things I wouldn't go against. Not from a religious aspect per say but I am spiritual. I believe people should be treated equally, I accept everyone. Being caring and standing by what I believe in is a part of my belief system. Empathy is a strength and weakness of mine. Someone with my talents would be able to distinguish that even if they slightly failed at something, everything is a learning experience. Everything and if they continue to work hard and do their best they will eventually get where they want to be even if it takes a little

This paper discusses the ideology of the Talented Tenth as was advocated for by Mr. W.E.B. Du Bois. The Negro Problem was a book that hit the shelves of most libraries in 1903 when it was authored by the Northern Philanthropists (Horne 74). The book was publicized by Mr. W.E.B. Du Bois who was a scholar among the blacks. The second chapter of the book entailed the Talented Tenth topic, which discussed the ability of the ten percent of the population being empowered. Mr. Du Bois believed that by empowering the portion of the Negro community, they would gain capacities to improve the lives of the rest of the community. He believed that a tenth of the community would receive the high level of education and act as change agents for the other members of the community (Washington 63). It was at a time when most of the Negro community could only access industrial training sponsored by the government. Mr. Du Bois perceived the training as retrogressive and only aimed at maintaining the status of the Negros as second generation humans. Essentially, it meant that they…

There were a few themes that were not in my top five I expected to see before the assessment, starting with Empathy. As a leader, I have prided myself on being a confidant, someone my team could come during a difficult time. I know from past issues on my team that I am always able to see both sides of a conflict and put myself in others shoes. The second theme I didn’t necessarily expect to see, but wanted…

This classes teaches you how to be successful in college and ways to do that. I've learned so many strategies from the On Course textbook. I was lacking in motivation, so I tried the formula for motivation and found my motivation level to be lower than I would like it to be. My value on my education was a 5. My expectation on my education to be a 5. And my motivation was a 25 which was very low. To improve my score and try to make it increase I set goals using DAPPS which is dating my goals, making them achievable, positive and personal, and specific. I also created my life plan. The life plan made me realize my dreams as a student and what my short term goals were. Setting goals using DAPPS really encouraged me and made me want to accomplish them. Dating my goals made it feel like a challenge and that made me want to go for it more. Achievable made me think that I can do this and that there's no way that I can't. A positive goal was easy for me to think of. Lastley, being specific made me visualize what the outcome of my goal will look like. Using the DAPPS made my motivation…

Similar to other students, each of my five strengths has a significant influence on my life at Grace as well as my studies. First of all, being an achiever clearly empowers me to pursue my dream of becoming a teacher. A few of the characteristics of an achiever are great stamina, productive, and a hard worker; these will definitely benefit me in the coming years. Also, this strength will aid me in my goal of attaining good grades during my college time. No matter what, I always put my best effort into my work. I generally do what is asked of the teacher/professor without even thinking as well as do anything necessary in order to pay attention to what is being taught which more than likely will be an advantage for me.…
