In Portland area they have experienced increasing reports of spousal abuse, child abuse, assault, domestic and youth violence, and incidences of road rage over the past five years. The funding for this program needs to be increased, as of now the only funding is the possibility of a onetime grant of $5,000 and up to $150,000 a year for up to three years. This funding may cover the operational expense of the program, but will not cover the extended help that needs to go out to the victims, and their families. We also need funding to educate the general public about different types of violence and what to do to prevent it from happing to them, and what to do if someone they know is caught in this cycle. The ongoing expense of the staff we will need to help council and support the different people that use the program will continue to rise as the time…

I have seen many students at the high school level walking around with the backpacks I helped make. Overall it may not have been much but knowing I helped out one student really made my day. However this project goes back to the problem of poverty. I not only chose this project just to help people out but for the reason that poverty is a very real subject that most people try to skim over. Poverty occurs in all walks of life and can happen at any time. But it so frequently happens to those who did nothing to deserve it, children. There are so many different types of poverty, however all these types cause many different effects to people, these different types include, generational, situational, absolute, relative, urban and rural poverty. These six different types of poverty take their toll on all sorts of people and can damage children in many different forms. Through the different kinds of poverty, children suffer, whether it be in their education or their homelife, children go through just as much of the poverty cycle as adults. Luckily there are people out there to help protect our…

The current support group is run by volunteers who meet monthly and feel they need some professional guidance to expand the group. It is the intention of this project to increase those meetings to fortnightly with the support of speakers and other health care professionals. The problem that I will be focusing on is services for people who are suffering from a debilitating disease like house cleaning and meal prep for the patient and their family. Many clients are unable to tend to the daily chores like house work due to the treatments received for their disease. This issue causes the patient to be stressed and feeling depressed because they are unable to attend to the needs of the home. The children also feel that their environment has changed lack of normalcy. This has caused problem for the family’s well-being. This is a complex problem and one that exists within the community and the organization. The organization I work for does not have any available resource to assist my client’s needs. I received feedback from other colleges in the agency and all have struggle with this dilemma. The organization lacks the services, programs, and resources to help the community struggling with such a problem.…
