My Trip to Mexico
The first time I visited Mexico was also the first time I went scuba diving and it was a memory I will never forget. This scuba diving experience was far different that what I expected. I expected to have a pleasant time swimming with the fishes and exploring the sea floor, which was still foreign to me. Not knowing what to expect I went fourth on this experience and discovered it was different. Having watched a flurry of action movies in which a superhero goes under water and has an easy time, I though it was going to be the same, however it was far from as easy and glamorized as shown. As I approached the water barefoot, the excitement that I held about entering the water and exploring it was replaced with a sharp pain shooting from my foot, which was the result of sharp seashells on the beachfront. Prior to going to this beach in Cozumel, I have only visited local US beaches that are known tourist spots. This was in a foreign country, and I assume the beaches have not have not been manicured to make the sand free of sharp objects; and my foot was destined to step on the largest and pointiest ones. Once I reached the water and put on my scuba mask and submerged in the water I realized the glamour associated with scuba diving is only for those individuals who are not prone to getting seasick and who enjoy total silence. Furthermore I realized breathing was not an automatic task underwater, it took a lot of exhaustive efforts. After being in the water for about 5 minutes and descending 10 meters, I started to feel the effects of the constant swaying of the ocean on my body. I slowly lost interest in looking around and became increasingly aware of the unease in my stomach. Assuming that the lower we go, the less the effects I hinted at the instructor to go lower; that’s when the experience whet out of control. As we descended 20 meters below the surface I could feel the pressure building in my ears. As I removed my fingers from my ear to signal the

They say that Mexico is a country no one ever leaves. Every year, millions of tourists pass through, and Mexicans jovially warn that a part of them will remain behind forever. Most visitors are vacationing North Americans who wind up on the brilliant beaches of Cancun, Acapulco, Mazatlan, and Puerto Vallarta. The beaches, of course, are among the world's best - but those who venture inland are rewarded with the true soul of Mexico, which has always resided firmly in the interior.…

The most significant challenge that I had was when I came from Mexico to the US in the 3rd grade I didn’t know how to communicate in English. As a result, I struggled in school. Kids made fun of me because of the way I dressed. My dad and mom struggled financially too. They were unemployed, once they found a job it was at a low wage. They struggled to buy me and my sisters clothes. Everyday we would walk miles across the streets of San Bernardino because we couldn’t afford a car.…

The best thing i did over the summer was go to New Mexico to visit some of my family and friends. Now i will tell you about some of the fun things that I did over in New Mexico. One of the days that I was there me my family and friend went to this river and we swam there. It was a little hard to swim because there was a really fast current. The best part about it though was jumping of the cliffs that were there the first time I was up on the cliff I was a little scared to jump off of it. Another fun thing we did at that river was go rafting it was very terrifying but also fun. Overall it was very fun spending time with my family and friends.…

As you likely know I recently got back from an amazing trip to the Dominican Republic! This trip opened up my eyes in many different ways such as just simply seeing the different cultures, seeing just how happy they are with how little they have and how much they trust in God to provide what they need! This trip also confirmed for me that mission work is definitely where God wants me in my future.…

After surfing for quite a while, I became tired and floated on my belly on the wing. I tried to take a nap AND relax, BUT every time I tried my face would sink UNDER the surface of the water. I looked UP and saw a yacht, then began to wave my hands to get their attention. The yacht turned and threw me a life preserver. They reeled me ONTO the yacht and NICELY gave me a room for free. I contacted my friend, whom I had wished to visit and she said that she had understood the situation. In the end, I got off at the next port and boarded the next plane…

Cancun Mexico is a place if amazing beaches, wild life, and many adventures that can’t be found anywhere else. The many different kinds of resorts that they have to offer is what makes Cancun a great vacation spot. All the resorts are combined so that way any guest that stays in Cancun can just jump from one resort to another. The resorts offer adventures and beaches with crystal clear waters at anyone’s finger tips, I loved being spoiled the whole time I was there. The main things that I enjoyed the most about my trip was spending time in the Olympic size pools getting waiting on all hours of the day, swimming with dolphins, and the XPOR tour.…

My uncle recently just moved to Mexico City because of work. He started by renting a house just of a construction site, but close enough to drive to work in about ten to fifteen minutes. He didn’t like the place because of the loud sounds of the machinery or the clanking of the metal poles as they were building a convenient store. He understandably didn’t particularly enjoy the smell the sweat of the men or the newly put concrete or the close garbage bins which surrounded the construction place. A week has passed and he started noticing strange actions which the surrounding people were doing, but didn’t think much of it as he didn’t know if it was some sort of tradition or event which happened in the middle of summer. He saw a lot of people throughout the day, but there were always the same people on the same spot for what seemed for days now.…

Once we were at the bottom of the water I was so happy to finally see all those fishes and corals again. I checked if I had put everything correctly, once I did, we started to explore. First, we went towards an “underwater arch”, we saw tons of eels, they were swimming in between corals. When we went under the arch, there were some huge sea urchins along with beautiful starfishes. It was very cool being under the arch, there was even a little cave inside it, but it was too small to get in. When we got through the arch, I asked in “sign language” if we could go up on top of the arch. My instructor said ok. We found a little area with no coral that we could go on. Being on top was like being the king of the sea, you could see a lot from up there. I decided to “jump” off the arch. My dad was filming me with the GoPro, so I did it like if I was jumping off a diving…

Competitive diving is a sport that often begins with failure but can lead to success. A new dive is challenging because of the fear of the unknown, the preparation time, and the confidence it requires. You do not know how to perform the dive; therefore, you do not know how to respond if something goes wrong. In diving, fear is as controllable as managing an energetic three year old; extremely difficult.…

The town where my father was born is called El Tigre (The Tiger), there are approximately 100 homes and everybody knows everybody there or they are related some way or another. The last time I was there in Mexico was in 2004; so many things there had changed. The roads were all paved and there was running water from the faucet and even a big brand new church with a plaza in front of it.…

When we started, all was going great, the water was crystal clear, tons of fish, coral, and other sea life. Then along came the monstrous 12ft hammerhead shark that roams around the cove every so often. It started to swim closer to us, so my father and I decided to go down near the coral so it wouldn’t think about us as food. As we descended down about 10 feet or so I heard a loud pop in my ear, but thought nothing of it because I was too worried about the shark. When we finally came up after the shark started to turn around to leave, my ear felt like someone was stabbing my eardrum repeatedly, with a red hot knife. I talked to my dad and asked if there could be something wrong with my ear after I told him what happened as we went down towards the coral.…
