Life Is Worth Living

Life is not easy, life can be tough sometimes but you can always find a solution to make it great and better. In life I am sure most of the people had an obstacle that passed or is passing through their life. And I am writing this essay to tell you about my obstacle that changed my whole life. Read more and you will see what I am talking about.
On July 31 2008 we received a letter in the mail saying that we got a visa to the United States and our flight is next week. It was a dream that came through. I was happy from a side and sad from the other. I was happy because I got a chance to see the U.S but said because I’m going to leave my house, my country, my family and all beloved ones. This was a challenge for me and I didn’t want to go and leave Lebanon because I was born there and it’s my favorite country.
One week after we went to the airport because it was time to leave. All my family were there and most of them were crying. My beloved grandma was there too and her eyes were so red and she was crying badly. When I saw her eyes I couldn’t hold it. I ran to her and hugged her as I’m not going to see her again. After a couple of minutes they called our airplane number and saying that we have to report to the gate as soon as possible. We said goodbye to everyone and left but my eyes were all the time on my grandma. We got on the plane and the plane was ready to go. It was my first time getting on a plane and I was so scared.
We reached United States and it been 5 years I didn’t see my country or anyone of my family. You think this is not an obstacle. But will it was a big obstacle for me. My life changed completely but the good think that I will see all of them on the summer of 2014. Life is always worth living no matter what happen with you in life you can still smile and make it shine and bright. Thank you for life, and all the little ups and downs that make it worth living.

My story beings like any other, at the moment I took my first breath on July 30th 1998 in Bilisht, Albania. I was born in a small town in the lower region of Albania where my entire family lived with my grandparents under one household. My parents soon came to the realization that the current living situation was incongruous for a new family, such as ours, to thrive. As the result, my parents chose to apply for the government program granting our family access to move into a completely new society with new laws, regulations, political aspects and that was tens of thousands of miles away. Our family, at that instant, had a struck of luck as my mother’s name was drawn for us to move to the greatest country the United States of America.…

Obstacles and hardships are what shape a person. One of my many obstacles I had to face was getting use to my freshman year in high school. Due to me going to an Early college my freshman experience may have been a little different. Transitioning was one of the most difficult parts of the whole experience due to me not being able to really grasp what I had gotten myself into. My teachers were very firm in conducting their teaching strategies. I can recall a moment in time where I had turned in one of my first papers for my English class I was so excited for her to read it because I had worked all night on it trying to perfect it. A couple days passed and I got the paper back it was so many read marks on it if I didn't know any better I would…

Moving and settling down to a new, different place can be difficult and stressful. I learned that if you work hard for anything, you can achieve it. I overcame my difficulties, especially language difficulties. I moved to United States with my family when I was 11 years old. I was born in Kerala, India and I spent my entire 11 years in India. I came to Illinois on August 18, 2009. I still remember the moment when my parents told my older sister and me “The paperwork is ready!! We got the visa to go!”. My mother’s face was filled with joy and excitement, just like how I would react if someone bought me a box of Ferrero Rocher candy now. When my mom was telling us this exciting news, next to her it was my dad. My dad was incredibly happy as well.…

I learned from a young age that life is tough and it’s not a given. Coming to the United States from Gambia in 2005 on a cold winter day this country was nothing like what I had expected. It is assumed by all Gambians that America is the Holy Grail but that is not accurate. From my first day I have had to go through hardships to fit in. My accent was very thick. My teeth were out of place and the kids at school didn’t hesitate to comment on it. I consider these hardships as something that many people go through but the defining moment in my life was when my parents got divorced. Coming from a Gambia divorce was nonexistent. It was something that never happened and has shaped who I am now. Since the first day I came to America I could tell my…
