The title of chapter 20 is a brief summary of what this chapter is about in its entirety, "How Procedures Improve the Opportunity to Learn". The key idea is that a well-managed classroom promotes and improves student learning. A well-managed classroom is not something that will stick out to an outsider, but can be observed by how smoothly a classroom runs. A well organized classroom comes down to a couple main things: the effectiveness of the first day and classroom procedures. Effective teachers manage their classroom, while ineffective teachers discipline their classroom. The key to classroom management lies in procedures which start on the very first day.…

To be a good teacher, I feel my philosophy needs to grow and evolve with each group of students that come into my classroom. I need to be continuously mindful of what is working and what is not. Recognizing when things are not working, I need to not only consider what is going on with the student, but also consider my approach and style to classroom management. As a classroom teacher, I have the opportunity to be a part of students’ academic experience for one year; helping to set the stage for their continued growth academically and socially. I am committed to creating and establishing a classroom environment that supports students and fosters students learning; putting my students on the pathway to…

My classroom management philosophy is primarily based on a quote that I came across several years ago, “schools exist for the students and not for the teachers.” I want to make sure that my classroom is run with the best interest of the students kept in mind. My main priority is to create a warm and nurturing classroom climate so that my students learn to the best of their ability. It is important that my students become interested in what I am teaching and hopefully they will walk away from my class with a love for reading. I want to insure that my students become prepared for the real world by allowing them to interact with their peers and to have them come together as a community (the classroom) to solve problems. For me, teaching is an adventure that changes from day to day. I want my students to love coming to school each day and to discover what will help stimulate their passion for learning.…

I believe that my classroom management plan will work to provide my students with a safe and supportive learning environment in many different ways. My classroom management plan is supportive because it includes outside resources that not all classrooms might have. I have implemented a technology/digital center so the students are able to work on assignments in the class. I also have stations where the students are able to work in a group of four or a group of five with the teacher instructing them. My class room is safe for all students because there is enough space to get throughout the entire classroom without having things in the way. There is a nice flow of space.…

Goal Centered Theory entails educators to inquire about wants based clarifications designed for why scholars are encouraged to behave badly and discuss options on behalf of the scholars wants to be met. This involves educators to differentiate each scholar from their misconducts. To applying goal centered theory an educator should: employ the entire group of scholars in conversation regarding performance; offer alternatives, apply ordinary and reasonable outcomes, not castigation.…
