My Memory Research Paper
My Memory One memory stands out from all others when I think of the past. It is the memory of the time when I went to Disney World with my grandparents when I was eleven. It all started near the end of elementary school when my grandparents popped the topic of going to Florida. We would even journey to Disney World and go to all four parks. I was ecstatic at the time and as always, the sky above the elementary was bright and blue. By the time of the departure, the last day of school, the sky burned with a bright sun and I gleefully awaited the bell. After my pick up from school, we drove straight to the airport and underwent the grueling process of airport security. As we took off, the entire sky was bright and a blue sea and clouds rolling over the horizon. We landed safely and I finally tasted the intense humidity that comes from a summer baked Florida. There was green all around me and I could peer into the clear blue water …show more content…
My grandmother asked me if I had seen a crocodile which had been lounging near the drain. I told her that I could not and I continued to look outside, peering into the blurred scenery. We went through the Animal Kingdom and I had to have everything pointed out to me. All the other attractions we went to had everything within reaching distance. At the Animal Kingdom, everything was far away. While at that park, I found out that I may as well have been blind with how bad my vision truly was. I never felt that my sight was that bad until my grandparents had to physically point out and guide me to see things that were clear to them. It horrified me that my vision had degraded so much and I had never realized it. We carried on with our little vacation and visited the other three parks. Though, the last few days of our visit to Disney World were stormy. It rained down on us and lightning put fear into me as we rode the monorail back to our hotel

I was very excited to go to Six Flags because it would be my first time going. When we finally got there. We parked the car and walked to the gates. When we got into the park. Connor wanted to ride the cyclone. Tommy and Anthony asked if I wanted to ride it. I said, “No.” but they pulled me into doing it. So, we waited in line. When we got to the front of the line. We got on the roller coaster and the ride started. When we started to go up I was nervous. When we got to the top, and as we were going down I couldn’t even hear myself scream. After the ride we rode rides around the park. Then, we went to the water park…

The SAD PERSONS scale is a mnemonic list of known suicide high risk characteristics. When determining whether a victim has high risk factors will help first aiders maintain objectivity. Also, it is important to maintain a nonjudgmental approach. However, using the SAD PERSONS mnemonic can help acknowledge the seriousness of the situation and also reminds the first aiders that ridiculing, making demeaning comments or ignoring the person are not helpful nor proper. Also, when dealing with a victim that has high risk factors of suicide, take precautions, such as: keeping the person under close observation, remove any dangerous items, and not allowing the person to go anywhere,…

Jacob, my oldest son, has memories based on the wonderful sights of Disney World. Obviously, the most impressive image that comes to him is the colossal image that comes into view almost as soon as you enter the park. He recalls the vibrant colors that seemed to guide you from one attraction to another. He enjoyed the illuminating fireworks that lite up the starry night. But to my surprise, his favorite memory was taking numerous photos with the characters that could be found everywhere you looked.…

However, some events do seem to stick out in a sense that I am able to remember them with extreme detail even though they happened multiple years ago. One event that remains crisp in my mind is the day my youngest sister was airlifted in a helicopter to children's hours after she had been born. At the time I was only six, just old enough to know something was wrong but not old enough to completely grasp the scene before me. I can still see the doctors running up to the helicopter with my sister on her yellow cart being loaded into the helicopter, and the car ride following the copter to Little Rock. Even though the event many not be traumatic I still can remember with vivid detail what all went down that…

During my junior year in high school me, my mom and some of her friends went on a cruise to the Bahamas. It was a three day cruise leaving Miami going to Nassau, Bahamas which is their capital. It was a Thursday night in May 2008 and we had a flight to catch to Miami. Even though the boat didn’t leave till the next day in the afternoon, it was best to get there early in case you missed your flight because most cruises aren’t refundable. We ending up flying to Fort Lauderdale airport which was not that far from our hotel which was in Miami. When we touched down in Florida it was beautiful. I’ve been to Florida before but it was when I was young so I didn’t remember anything. It was night time and the palm trees was so pretty and the weather was perfect, especially since I was coming from Michigan. We ended up staying at the hotel which was not to far from the carnival porting dock.…

Memory makes us who we are. According to How Human Memory Works, most people talk about their memory like a thing they have, but memory doesn’t exist like your body does. It’s more like a concept that refers to the process of remembering. Many scientists and researchers compare the human memory as a filing cabinet with memory folders or a supercomputer in the past, but now people say that the average human memory is a much more complex system; memory is said to be a brain-wide process, not just in a single part. A complex structure a single memory seems to be, because of the different parts. Think about an apple. You probably thought about the colors an apple can be, that an apple is a fruit, even how you eat an apple. Although there are many components of what you thought was a single memory, you probably won’t recognize where the different parts your apple memories are coming from, only the apple as a whole. Even scientists are only on square one with figuring out how the brain brings all the memories together into one whole mental image, graph, or chart.…

When we landed my moms brother Matt came and picked us up from the airport and took us to our hotel where we were staying until we went to Disneyland. After the whole Disneyland trip we went to Hollywood and walked on the stars and met tons of cool people. The next day we went to Long Beach and swam in the ocean and collected seashells. On our last day there we went to see the Queen Mary and when I first saw it, I just remember how big it was. It was easily bigger than our school, it was just immense and I remember thinking about how they even managed to make a ship that big back…

I remember once when I was younger; probably about six year’s old, playing outside after a big rain storm. When looking back on the experience and talking with my mom, she says she it had been raining and cloudy for a few weeks. I was excited to finally get to play outside. I remember going outside and looking to my right and left. To the right I saw dark rain clouds, and to my right I saw the bright sun. Then I remember feeling a rain drop and I looked straight ahead and saw a double rainbow. It was the most amazing experience to me, being a young little girl. I remember calling my family outside, and asking my mom to take pictures of the rainbows. The first rainbow I saw was awfully bright red, orange, yellow, green,…
