In her book “My freshman year,” Rebekan Nathan writes, “I am a cultural anthropologist, and have spent most of my professional life living overseas in a remote village location, learning the language and customs of another culture.” The author’s opinion is when some people studying or traveling in some country which is use the different language, they will face the largest trouble is language. In other words, the language is the largest problem for students who are study in oversea even some tourists. Therefore, when students or tourists want to plan go to the foreign country, they have to study the new language for their plan.
In my experience that is learning a new language can be a difficult task for me. According to my memory, when I first time came to the United States, I can speak English, but just a little bit, for example: yes, no, thank you, and I am a Chinese student like that. When I prepared through the customhouse, I do not know what can I do in that time even I forgot how to say hello to the customhouse officer. Also the funniest point is when I passed smoothly the customhouse, I wanted to pee, but I do not knew how can I say the “restroom”, I just tried to ask an American, I said, “where is the WC?” Because in China, the public restroom we call that “WC”. And then, that guy said, “Excuse me?” I said that again, the guy still did not understand. Finally, I give up to asking, and hold it awhile, until I arrived to my aunt’s house, actually I had held it five hours. This is because I do not live in an English environment where we are forced to speak or write language. As far as I am concerned, I think the best way that learning the English or new language is through communicating with local people because they can expertly use the English language. I am sure that is very helpful, because this way is created now the Jones.

Language is a very import part in our life, we carry it with us through all the steps, processes, moments experiences of our life, language built us and make us grow and the most important thing is that it grows with us, changes, modifies itself, and becomes more appropriate and specific. As we pointed out language help us to create and understand the world around us, gives meaning to everything and gives birth to emotions and feelings; a world without language would be meaningless and very lonely. Language it’s what help us grow up, the more we learn through it, the more we desire to experience and study in deep, leading us to new prospective, opening our mind to more specific and deep concepts, ideas, projects, goals. We really can’t live our life to the best without it, we are not the same without language and we can only give it the right importance, the importance making our life being in contact and in relation with people, the importance of making us feel alive and passionate of the world we are living with, the importance to fulfill our life to the top.…

Obviously, Talking is the basic human ability that creates communications. Therefore, learning the new language becomes the very first aspect of fitting into a new environment even though the learning process can be troublesome for some people. In his essay “Mute in an English-Only World”, Chang-rae Lee describes the difficulties that his Mom had when they immigrated to America at very first year without fully developed English speaking skill: “I saw every day the exacting price and power of language, especially with my mother, who was an outsider in an English-only world…She often encountered great difficulty whenever she went out” (541). Moreover, language is a part of the culture that becoming more suitable in new environment and being more acceptable by local residents are vastly depend upon learning it. For instance, if those Mexican workers who worked at Framingville could speak better English and explained themselves a bit more, the situation will be shifted at least with some conversations of ironing the problems out, instead of the intense conflicts that took place there. The other way of thinking it is that people often times use national language as a determination of national identity, which means that speaking the same language can actually close the gap between local residents and immigrants. This point…

High school is a different experience for everyone. The first three years really blend together and do not seem important, but senior year is completely different. Freshman year was full of confusion, learning an array of new things. Sophomore year was where life started to get fun and you “belonged” in the high school. Junior year was where you see the little light at the end of the tunnel, but it was filled with anxiety and frustration. Senior year is where it all becomes worth it and the rest of your life is finally going to begin.…

The time has come. After countless weeks of exams, homework, meetings, and random outbursts of crying, it’s time to venture home for a few days of much needed rest, real food, and time with loved ones. Thanksgiving has become a lot more meaningful now that I am away from college. I remember my first Thanksgiving freshman year. I was living the standard movie cliché of coming home for the holidays. I grew a beard, everyone commented on how much more liberal I’ve gotten, I was asked (and begrudgingly answered) how my classes were going, it was all part of the true college experience.…

Getting to school that morning proved to be very exciting, entering the doors at Hanau American High, this was going to be my last first day of school there. We were all excited to see each other, although we may have seen each other during the summer, for the most part some of my fellow classmates lived an hour away from me. This time I walked in with my head held high, I was a senior. Excited about starting my senior year, this at the time was supposed to be the best school year of my life. There was so much to look forward too, and really knowing deep down that this school year was going to fly by and we would all be headed in opposite directions.…
