My Ending to Lamb to the Slaughter
Lamb to the Slaughter’s Ending It’s the same nightmare that haunts me every day. I wrapped bed sheet around my fragile frame covering my body, which is drenched with cold drops of sweat. I crawled to the darkest corner in my bedroom trembling of fear as I sank in the darkness. The voices never leave my side; they echo in my head like a drum whether I am awake or asleep. The moon light was tickling my eyes. I felt like an empty shell as I sat there on the freezing-cold ground while my high body temperature was emerging with the coldness of the ground. I leaned my bare back against the cold wall. I closed my eyes, lifted my chin up, and covered my ears very tightly.
“ You must find the truth “ the voice said.
It’s the same voice in my nightmare. Even though I don’t remember it when I wake up, but I have this feeling bottled inside of me that I have been having the same nightmare over and over every day, and that this voice haunting me is the same voice in my nightmare. I heard the creaking sound of the door opening as I saw my mother, the only person I have left, appearing like a shinning angel reaching out her hand for me in the darkness. She took her steps towards me as her soft brunette hair brushed my face, and her wide crystal emerald green eyes were glued to me.
“Another nightmare?” she looked worried.
“ I just feel that there is something I am missing in this world,” I continued, “ That there is something I must discover to put these nightmares and voices to sleep”.
“ You have a big day tomorrow , so go back to sleep,” she threw me one of her fake smiles.
My name is Jessica Patrick. I got my ghostly-while skin from my father. I mean I totally look like Casper and his ghost buddies! I have a shiny golden hair that falls, beneath my shoulders into a tassel of soft curls. My eyes are lovely midnight blue and around my pupil, I have a silver lining around both of them on my eyes. I am twenty-five years old. My father was murdered before I

It all felt so real; despite the fact that it was clearly a nightmare, it all felt so real. I was standing with my back against the tree, my eyes were closed as I was too afraid to open them. I did open them eventually and when I did, he was standing right in front of me. There was no telling how long he'd been standing there watching me. "I found you, Casey," he said.…

Fuck, it’s dark in here with very little space. I have been shuffling these red and black thoughts around like a Rubik’s Cube of blood and darkness. There is only one white piece that seems to create some space. When I try occupying it, black and red forms ooze in filling it, forming a purple sludge that eventually separates back into red, and black. I am so tired and the darkness suppresses me.…

My eyes snap open and the image of a room slowly focuses into my vision. I look around wondering where I am and become aware of a loud shrill noise. Then I remember, this is my place now, this is where I live and that clock needs to stop beeping. Slowly I get out of bed and look into the mirror asking myself the same question as I always do, "Why am I getting up, its not like there is anything for me to do." My room is nothing like I remember it from last night. Last night I had strewn the clothes I was wearing all about the room and sequentially thrashed it by everywhere looking form my pajamas that I somehow never seem to find. Now, my room is all clean. At least the clothes had provided some color to…

“Mom, mom, mom, mom!” I was practically screaming. I already knew what she was going to say. I just sat back on the couch and watched as a tear streamed down my face into my hand. I eventually fell asleep on the couch. I woke up at three in the morning and I could see the sun peaking out with the stars and moon retreating back until another night. I don’t know what came across me but I thought to myself why people are so cruel. I looked outside to see if anyone was out there. I just saw an empty street, just like one of those old ghost towns in old western movies.…

I couldn’t sleep at all last night. The nightmare of the past events haunted me all throughout the night. The visage of the body being laid out and defiled in the middle of the cold, barren road was still within my head like looking at myself in the mirror. I was near the brink of collapse, unable to bear what had just happened. I stayed in bed till about midday when I woke up from my slumber, my face dry from tears.…

The dead walked towards me as I tried to move back, in his hands were a pair of bloodstained pocket knife. A hard wall smashed against my head, for I accidently backed up on the wall. Black dots blocked my sight, with little consciousness that remained in myself. I rolled into a ball as the creature closed in, still screaming because I was going to die in any moment. I buried my head, trying to to sink in the snow as much as possible. As I was praying, a distant voice, kept calling my name. It was my friend Molly, who was also the owner of the store. She shook my shoulders violently, as I was blinded by the snow. I looked up again, nothing had happened. Looking across, the pile of snow remained unharmed. Snow flurried down again.…

I faintly remember what happened that night, that’s the reason why I’m sitting here. I can’t think clearly, see straight and yet I continue to see glimpses of him, his baby blue eyes, greasy black hair and oily face that sheds a smile every so often. I didn’t mean for everything to be this way, I feel as if it’s my fault, that maybe I’m the suspect. I feel as if there’s a blunt knife digging deeper into the guilty walls of my soul. As I peer around the room, I notice one streak of sunlight, fighting for survival in the dark and dampened room.…
