My Argumentative Essay On Racial Identity
Racial Identity Metacognitive Writing Analysis

Writing has been a passion of mine ever since I was in elementary school. On my free time I write and journal down my thoughts with no academic format. I would basically write about myself, my experiences, and my future plans in life. As much as I enjoyed Writing I knew I could learn more and improve in my writing but i didn’t know what specific areas needed improvement. Unfortanatly I haven’t had to write essays in years and that put me at a disadvantage because I enjoy writing and writing academically was a goal I really wanted to achieve. I was looking forward on writing my argumentive essay on racial Identity while using supporting quotes and details from the article What Is Africa To Me, …show more content…
The easiest part of my essay on racial identity was giving my essay personality by analyzing my personal experiences and relating them to the quotes for example Nassar writes “ This quote explains how people view and judge you by the way you walk, dress, and carry yourself.” Instead of analyzing the quote I used from the article, I related Murray’s quote to …show more content…
I felt flashes of anxiety and my emotions were mixed. I felt like Iwasn’t going to be able to succeed in writing until I flipped back to the front page and so all the advice and feedback to use for future papers. As i was reading the feedback, I realized fixing these will only make my writing better. The hardest part about writing my essay on racial identity was understanding how the argumentive format works. I was confused while writing the essay because I only found myself reflecting the essay back to myself and my personal experiences, which I thought was right, For example Nassar writes “In class discussions when the class encourages you to talk about your cultural heritage do you get the feeling I get because I do not know much of the facts behind my cultural heritage? We all may feel that way being born and raised in the U.S can have that effect on us.” In this text I took Murray’s article and tried to reflect it on simillar experiences that I have faced in my life.
