Choosing an artist to create a 200-CD compilation would be a very difficult choice given there are hundreds of composers over the centuries to choose from; I enjoy the music of many composers from several eras. The musicians who wrote songs in the Baroque Era sound very different than musicians of the Renascence or modern day eras. In addition, there are regional styles of music and genres which have to be taken into consideration, too. For instance, K pop, Greek pop, and American pop are types of music I enjoy and are quite different from one another. It seems music styles in the late 20th century and early 21st century change every 5-10 years. I like music from the 1970s; I also like music from the 1980s. These two decades sound very different…

The instrument had a long, straight neck, a circular body, and is now considered to be the predecessor to the pipa, among many other instruments. In his verse, Ode to Pipa, Xuan Fu of the Jin Dynasty (265-420 AD) described the xiantao as a source of relief and an expression of hate and resentment for those who were forced to build the Great Wall. The primary purpose for the instrument was not to be listened to, but rather to use the performance aspect as an escape or a distraction for any longing or distress a person may be under. The modern pipa was reformed over thousands of years, and there are dozens of instruments that joined together in structure, sound, and culture. Some of these instruments include the qin-pipa, a pre-Tang dynasty lute with a round body, the barbat, a two-stringed large body lute with a dramatically curved neck, and the aforementioned xiantao, which was similar in many fashions to the…

What is this song about? The singer is obviously addressing someone he once knew. Is it a man or a woman? By the third line, we know it is a woman: “People call and say/beware down you’re bound to fall.” We have a hint at this point in time that we may be talking about the sin of pride, since as we recall, “pride goeth before the fall.” And sure enough, a few lines later, we see the claim “now you don’t seem so proud.” So we know the song was written to/about a woman who once embodied the vice of pride. In this case, we are presented with a very moral state of affairs: a vice (pride) is punished. The person has obviously fallen into a lowered state and is “scrounging (i.e., begging) for her next meal. This (people being punished for their vices) doesn’t always happen in life or in art, so the fact that this is the center of this song tells us something about the moral leanings of the song. The song represents a world where people are punished for their sins.…

I always think that music and architecture are closely related , first of all emotionally architecture is as complex as abstract as the music but it is communicating source doesn’t not only communicate through mind when you listen to a Bach-oratorio it’s about the soul and soul is in architecture , it based on the balance and that balance it is not in the eye its actually in the inner ear so similarly drawing is really a score , its just like a piece of music that has been interpreted by a community and off course proportions , lights , materiality which are all implicated in the building which when it comes to a building off course has too also present the atmosphere of a building…
