7. Situational Irony:

As he continued to drive alone, he saw a boy standing on the side and let him in, although the boy did not initiate he wanted a ride. Moments later, the boy lashed out on Mr. Shiftlet yelling, “You go to the devil!” as well as adding, “My old woman is a flea bag and yours is a stinking pole cat!’ and with that he flung the door open and jumped out with his suitcase into the ditch” (1043). This is situational irony because Mr. Shiftlet abandons Lucynell prior, but the boy he picked up abandons him and jumps out the moving
