Author: Brian Branston
Born in 1921 to a modest mining family on the outskirts of Sheffield, Yorkshire, Branston studied History at Sheffield University and spent his 20s serving in the British Army in Burma during the Second World War. On his return from duty he pursued a career at the BBC becoming involved in the production of many documentaries, particularly focusing on anthropology in far-flung corners of the world including The Amazon Basin and rural North America. In later life and retirement, Branston turned his attention to writing - a life-long passion and published many books on Norse and Viking mythology, the art of film making and the supernatural. He died in September 1993.

The stealing of Thor’s hammer

It was Morning in the palace of Bilskirnir. Thor Woke up from a disturbing dream only to find out that his hammer that was always beside his bed had disappeared:
-Thor: “Where’s my hammer? !I want my Hammer!”
Thor calls Loki:
-Thor: Loki, Where’s my hammer? Have you had anything to do with its disappearance?
-Loki: “NO, NO, NO only one lot dare to do that: The giant.”
Thor wants to go to Jotunheim, where King Loki of outgard the king og the giants resides and wants Loki to come with him. As Thor prepares to go Loki Stops him:
-Loki: “Stop! That’s what the giant

    Over the first winter, the livestock have starved to death which threatened the settlement. When trying to leave Iceland after the death of the livestock, pack ice from fjord halted Floki on returning home. Once the pack ice broke up enough, to be able to leave Iceland, it was late in the year, but was to hazardous to return to modern day Norway.
