It is pretty clear that the music wasn't appropriate for the time period. It was the jazz age but artists like Jay Z and Lana Del Rey had songs featured in the film. While it could be argued that the current music added things to the movie, like a larger audience, the music just didn't fit correctly. The inclusion of such current music takes…
The music in the movie, The Odyssey, could be described as powerful and something you could find in an adventure movie. Starting from Book 1, Homer…
One of the techniques Tim Burton uses to create his own world is music. Tim Burton uses music in his movies to set the mood or the tone for the scene. One example of this was in the movie “edward scissorhands” in the ice angel scene. The scene started off with a smooth loving song while edward was sculpting the angel while kim danced in the snow. While jim came and said “edward” the music changed…

Throughout our generation, films have had a huge improvement in production over the years. Whether it’s the style of music or the brilliant use of special effects, movies have never looked better. Though the product has changed, there is one thing that still seems to stay the same, the use of monsters and the real meaning behind them. Though some are not as noticeable as others, almost every film includes a monster. Whether is a horror, drama, or science fiction film, there is always someone or something that posses that monster quality to it. There are times where the monster may change its attitude, or someone may even end up becoming the monster. Whatever the case is, the monster is there for a reason, it’s just the audiences’ job to figure out what that reason is.…
The Monster is an 1898 novella by American author Stephen Crane (1871–1900). The story takes place in the small, fictional town of Whilomville, New York. An African-American coachman named Henry Johnson, who is employed by the town's physician, Dr. Trescott, becomes horribly disfigured after he saves Trescott's son from a fire. When Henry is branded a "monster" by the town's residents, Trescott vows to shelter and care for him, resulting in his family's exclusion from the…
Who is the monster? In my opinion the monster is Victor Frankenstein who neglected his parental duties and neglected his child.…
Exactly like a baby, the monster had no previous life experience which left him exploring the world around him on his own, including his discovery of his senses and fire (Shelley 107). He even mentions that “no distinct ideas occupied [his] mind” (Shelley 106). Clearly, Shelley is describing the mind of a young and inexperienced creature whose mental growth is “imbued with Lockean empricisim” or the theory that the mind is a blank slate only “to be written on by observation and sensory experience” (Chao 2). Correspondingly, his reaction towards being “attacked... until, grievously bruised by stones” (Shelley 109) was simply to turn the other cheek and run away. Surely an inherently evil being with supernatural strength would have decimated the population instead of “fearfully... [taking] refuge in a low hovel” (Shelley 109) as someone of a clear conscious would do. From the above, one can realise that Shelley purposely emphasised the purity of the monster early in the novel so that his progress from good to evil will strictly be a result of…
watching the movie immediately noticed the song Sam, Patrick, and Charlie play in the truck during the ride through the tunnel changed to “Heroes” by David Bowie instead of “Landslide” by Fleetwood Mac…
We decided to play one instrumental song through out our whole trailer because we felt like the tone of the song fit our theme well. The song we chose is called Ofelia’s dream by Benjamin Tissot. The tone of this song is very dark and mysterious. This tone fits our theme well because survival is mysterious. Those who strive to survive don't always succeed and are faced against the unthinkable. We thought that by including a dark song it would add of a layer of meaning to the trailer. This layer of meaning is meant to show the viewers that survival comes with darkness which is why we included certain scenes in our trailer that show the characters’ making dark decisions in order to survive. For example, we included the scene in 127 Hours where…

The soundtrack of the game is composed by Argentinian guitarist Gustavo Santaolalla. Each track is soft and mellow with deep acoustic guitars, among other string instruments and drums, creating the mood in each scene. When the game is showing off a beautiful landscape, the soundtrack plays a gentle, light and happy tune. If there’s something bad happening, the mood of the soundtrack will change into dark and unsettling, putting you on edge like the characters on screen. The main theme fits the entire game in a nutshell. You'll hear it during the beginning credits and modified versions in some of the major events in the game, or when time progresses through the seasons. The main version starts off light with a couple acoustic guitars and folk instruments playing an emotional melody that are eventually joined by drums and other acoustic instruments, such as the violin, cello, and banjo. As each instrument joins in, you feel a sense of uneasiness and danger. When the melody changes tone, you feel a sense of hope like something good will come out of the bad. The way the tone is presented and changed, you even feel a bit of doubt in the hope. The soundtrack perfectly encompasses the game and matches the story…
