Middlefield Hospital Case Study
As the new CEO of Middlefield hospital a quality of 450 tertiary bed hospital integrated healthcare system in a major urban area in the Northeast with employee turnover rate issues, nursing vacancies, a new hospital in the area recently opening, and employee morale deteriorating I need to come in strong making serious changes. I will send out a memo to the head staff for an urgent meeting. The meeting will take place on both day and night shift so everyone can aware of the upcoming change. At the beginning of the meeting, I will address the human resources department “HR” recruiting, promoting, internship and partnership with Essex University. Since Essex University is considering eliminating its nursing degree program because there is continual difficulty in recruiting well qualified instructors. As part of the internship, partnership plan, Anne and I will meet up with Essex University and have a meeting with their president and the dean of the nursing department and suggest a partnership between the hospital and the university to help keep their nursing department open. We will also discuss a guarantee student internship with the department. Doing so will help our nursing department since we currently have a high employee turnover rate and a huge vacancy in our nursing department. The survey will consist of 5 questions that will ask employee what needs to be done to make the hospital a better place. What needs to be change about the work ethics or what has change? Following Middlefield code of ethics, survey will be sent out to our patients to better our work. I will remind each staff the reason why we are in this business is to save lives and that we are not in competition. That said, we have to improve our reputation for quality
