INTRODUCTION TO MANAGEMENT
DEFINITION
The process of administering and coordinating resources efficiently and effectively in an effort to achieve the goal of the organization.

MEASURING MANAGERIAL PERFORMANCE

MANAGEMENT PROCESS / FUNCTIONS
The set of ongoing decisions and work activities in which managers engage as the plan, organize, lead, and control.
PLANNING
Process of defining goals and defining the actions necessary to achieve those goals.

Plan are formulated
ORGANIZING
Process of determining what tasks are to be done, who will do them and how those task will be managed and coordinated.
Structural arrangement
LEADING
Motivating and directing the member of the organization so that they contribute to the achievement of the organization goals.
Motivating people
CONTROLLING
Monitoring the performance of the organization and identifying deviations between planned and actual results, and taking action if necessary.

TYPES OF MANAGERS / MANAGERIAL LEVELS
MANAGERS AT DIFFERENT LEVELS
Three level of managers :
1. Top-level managers - an eye on the outside
2. Middle managers - linking group
3. First line manager - one to one with subordinates
4. Operational employees
