Meningocuccal Meningitis
Meningococcal meningitis is a serious and potentially fatal infection caused by Neisseria meningitidis. This infection can cause death rapidly if it will not be treated. When the infection is affecting the brain or spinal cord it is named meningitis. When meningococcal bacteria invade bloodstream move across to infect meninges- “the thin lining that surrounds the brain and the spinal cord and fluid around them”. The blood vessels in the lining of the brain are damaged. Membranes contains three connective tissue layers which are pia meter, arachnoid and the dura mater.
