Mekapenamas: A Short Story
The air brisk, leaves swaying in the calm wind. The sound of rustling leaves soothed the moment accompanied by birds overhead. But the overcast day was soon disrupted by a distant snap of a twig. It was followed by thuds of a foot connecting to the mossy forest floor. Then a figure of a man popped between the dense forest. “Run!” he said between every pant, “Run hurry!” A small group of 5 gathered their gear swiftly and proceeded to do as he says. Run. “Why are we running!” exclaimed a hunter.
The man trying to gather his breath said, “Mekas, a bunch of them!” Synced, they turn their heads to be brief to introduce a face painted tribe called the Mekapenamas. The terrain became rough and coarse. That's when Adam decided to trip Johnny. The two had had a history of tension. Richard saw the action, but knowing Adam had power and age over him he kept shut. “Johnny!” Shouted Richard, the man originally running.

Then all of a sudden a member of the tribe signaled to back down. They turned their heads the direction member was looking at trying to find a hope to live. Down the stretch of a forest were brown-coated men lined up with a M1819 Hall rifle aiming right above our foreheads. “Shoot us, ” said the tribe leader “ I Dare you to, ” The leader was smart enough to know that the accuracy of the gun was lacking.
