Pinky Promise I raised my head up from the sink and stared at my reflection in the broken mirror. My head was pounding, my palms were sweaty. The shard of glass dropped from my hand and shattered into a million different pieces. My vision was blurry as I kneeled down to pick up the bloody shards of glass. While gazing at my reflection a tear splattered onto the glass. How did my life go to hell because of one person?
As the door creaked open, slowly I turned around to see the face of my 4-year-old daughter Giselle holding a cupcake with two candles that read 22. “Happy birthday Mommy!” As she spoke I stood up and cowered over the sink to hide my wrists. “Oh t-thank you, honey,” I stuttered, “go to the living …show more content…
Sasha was the one that set me up with Alec in the first place. I opened the car door and faced the icy, brisk air in our barren town. Without looking back, I rushed into Sasha’s house, the door flung open and revealed all of my loved ones. I ran through and peered into the eyes of my parents that haven’t seen me in four years. Behind me was Alec rushing in with his gift; as he walked in the mood of the room instantly changed. The wide eyes and bliss soon turned to disgust and animosity toward Alec. I was on pins and needles thinking about what I was going to do. The next morning as Alec left for work he slammed all of our doors and locked them shut. After I heard a loud beeping noise I knew that he was gone. I pulled out the credit card I stole from his wallet and slid it in between the door frame and the lock. Running, I went to Giselle’s room to unlock her door. As I put the card inside the card snapped. My heart fell to the floor, realizing there was nothing to do to get her out. Slowly, I went to the garage and rummaged through all the trash and found a hammer. After I got Giselle, I packed our bags; I didn’t know where I was going but I knew he’d never find me or see Giselle ever again. After opening the locked door, I began to run with Giselle. My palms were sweaty, my heart was pounding. I heard Giselle yelling “Daddy’s home.” I slowly turned around and saw Alec’s gray, lifeless eyes burning a hole through me. My vision was blurry as he got out of the car. “I was trying to protect you,” he yelled. I watched his hand move to his back pocket.
