Medieval Castles
Medieval Castles truly are magnificent works of art from humanity’s ancient past. Over the years we’ve learned so much about them but not everyone knows every detail about them. Medieval Castles began appearing in England in 1066 after the “Norman Invasion”. ( “History of Medieval Castles” ). Medieval Castles were used for a great many things but what use out of all of them was more memorable, a Defencive Fortress, an Offensive Base of Operations, or just a place of residence, possibly even something else entirely, why not figure that out now.
Firstly, let's discuss how Castles were used as Offencive Bases to plan attacks on other Castles. Usually a Lord …show more content…
That would usually happen when they did not put enough thought into their plan of attack. They would then eventually learn from those mistakes and then make proper preparations before battle such as, knowing what weaponry to bring, knowing how many people to bring, and knowing who to bring for battle.( “Medieval Castle History” ).
Next, we should talk about how things were be handled on the other side of the battlefield shall we. Most people would think that the people who would defend a Castle from an attack would be having a hard time doing their job, but they would be only half right. Defending a Castle from an attack was easier for those people than most would actually expect, but they did have their fair share of troubles, because even though they had an easier time defending the Castle from attackers, it also proved to be more deadly.( “Medieval Castle History” …show more content…
In the beginning, Castles were used for many of the previous types of use that were previously covered in this essay. For the sake of clarification and as a reminder, let’s review what they are: Bases for planning attacks, and Defensive Fortresses. As time went on, some of these uses started to die down and become less and less prominent over time and eventually stopped all together.
