Mean Girls Paper
Cady Heron moves to a new home from the Africa. She goes to a new school where she meets Janis and Damian. Her new friends warn her to stay away from the “Plastics”, a group of girls who are popular and cruel. Their group is headed by, Regina George with Gretchen and Karen. When Cady sees
Aaron Samuels, she falls in love. When Regina discovers this, she seeks revenge by getting back with
Aaron and dangling him in front of her. Then, Cady, Janis, and Damian plot to bring Regina's status down. However, as Cady continues to spend more time with the Plastics, she begins to become one of them. Cady satisfies the first two hierarchies of needs, ‘Physiological and Safety’ by living in a loving and

Cady works to fill the ‘Love/Belonging’ in the start of the movie by becoming friends with Janis and Damian and the
“Plastics”. Cady fills the ‘Esteem’ level by having confidence when the “Plastics” accept her and when she becomes popular. Cady fills the last stage, ‘Selfactualization’ by owning up to what she has done
(the burn book) and accepting the consequences.
Cady is constantly motivated by intrinsic and extrinsic motivations throughout the movie. She is intrinsically motivated to try and fit in and she does anything possible to do so. She becomes friends with people she shouldn’t and she unconsciously morphs into one of the “Plastics”. Some extrinsic motivations she has, to fit in are, looking good to others. She changes her clothes and tries to get Aaron
Samuels as her boyfriend. These motivators contribute to her success by getting her to be popular and fit in.

Maslow’s hierarchy of needs has been use when I picked my college. I when choosing my college I made sure there was plenty of food options for me a well as a comfortable place to sleep. This filled the
‘Physiological’ level of Maslow’s hierarchy. Next, I made sure the school I picked had a blue

Imagery is of great importance in the poem “Barbie Doll” by Margie Piercy. The title explains itself throughout the poem. Girls and many grown women see the doll Barbie as a perfect roll model, she is very beautiful and society expects that of women. In the poem the “girlchild” is an intelligent, healthy, and strong girl. Society expects the girl to look like the perfect, little, Barbie doll, and she is ridiculed for not looking like they want her to. A classmate tells her “You have a great big nose and fat legs,” this explains that they only judge by appearances and not by personality.…

As I see it, the main character may have been a very easily influenced person during her past. Although she appears to be stronger at the end of each situation she discusses, the main character goes right back to being obedient and meek at the beginning of each new scenario. It seems as if she feels weak and out of control, a trait that she is now struggling to change. For example, when she heard Dwight, one of the men she was seeing say that he thought grey was a mystical colour, she went out and bought a grey…

They see her as a puzzle to be figured out, so much less human than Emily or Binx or Sam. To me, however, she is uniquely human because she struggles intimately and desperately with self-identity and so exhibits the same continual and traumatizing shattering and reformation of identity that I have experienced throughout my life. She cannot maintain an identity for particularly long because she is acutely aware of the flaws of each of her successive masks as well as the immense pressure associated with maintaining them. When describing this feeling, she says “I am straining every nerve to be the sort of person I was expected to be and shaking in my boots for fear I would fail” (Percy 115). She knows that this pressure will inevitably destroy her identity and spends her life terrified of being no one. The more success she has in maintaining a particular identity, the more desperately she clings to it, the harder it becomes to sustain.…
