Maron Mushroom: Play Analysis
Maroon curtains were drawn on the play's performance. People stood up and clapped their hands, for what they assumed to have been a brilliant performance of the high school students. The dimly lit auditorium was flooded with color when the lights flickered back on.
Everyone, except for me, started to stretch and mingle about the room. Some people went to the refreshment stand or to the washroom during the intermission. Conversations started to ignite as well as ringing phones made the place feel more alive. Someone in the seat right next to me finally decided to get up from their chair, but it was only my mother and she just glanced down at me.
"You should act like you at least enjoyed the performance a little bit," my mother advised, and

A girl, presumed as Piper, walk onto the stage in a long blue dress with her heels clicking against the platform until she was in the middle of the stage. She had her instrument by the neck and the bow in her opposite hand.
When she got into playing the position, even the shuffling of feet had come to a halt, and only the droning of the speakers could only be heard. Piper inhaled deeply before she started to pour her heart out onto the strings. The music was swift and lyrical with intervals of exciting notes perused throughout the piece. It was a perfect contrast to the shows western love theme. The hairs on my arm stood on end, and the music filled the air with an electric current that could be sensed. A shiver of pure delight ran down my spine.
At that very moment, I knew my mother was right, and it left a bitter taste in my mouth. I craved to play as spectacular as her, in that moment I wanted to be her. It all clicked together why I had to endure this horrendous play, to finally see something magnificent. In other words, Pipers playing made up for the lousiness I witnessed that day, and it made all the better to listen

In that heart-freezing, gut-wrenching moment, all eyes were on me. I whirled madly in my seat, scanning the entire audience. The bright room silhouetted the soft but unmistakable shadow of a woman. But there was no one there, of course. There couldn’t have been – yet I definitely did not feel alone.…

The first movement of the composition begins with a solo from only the strings family. A soft, consistent melody is played and the violin dominates the other instruments in this piece. The tone color at the beginning of this piece is relatively light which symbolizes the characteristics of a nuturing mother. As expected from a classical piece, the dynamics of the piece suddenly change, and there is a slight crescendo in the piece during the following measures of the composition. The tempo of the composition grows quicker in pace which portrays another chapter in the story, signalizng another movement of the piece. A violinist them performs a solo that plays alot that is also quick, yet play alot on the concept of pitch. It can be heard that the violin goes from very low ranges to fairly high range in pitch to emphasize the great amount of emotion in the piece.…

The play begins with showing the audience how the play will end, with the death of the two brothers; Mickey and Eddie. Mrs Johnstone is stood around her two dead sons who are placed parallel to one another in the middle of the stage covered in red blankets which could be a connotation of death then the opening song begins. The narrator begins to tell the story of what happened to the twins. The narrator opens the play with the first line which immediately drew me into the play and I was interested instantly and he cropped up in many scenes which…

Once the violin enters the music feels so heavy, as if all of us in the audience almost have to hold our breaths from the sadness and tragedy that is being displayed. As the movement goes on the notes get higher, but are not relieved from any seriousness. This is an amazing example of how music can display tone without a single word or explanation. Grace Mei-En Ho, “an active soloist and chamber musician throughout the United States and Asia”, executes excellent technique during the extremely low parts of this movement. This movement was my favorite because it invoked an intense feeling that I could easily see wasn’t only felt by…

This contrasting choreography is accompanied by a fast tempo piece of music, adding to the swift change in meaning on the last part of the performer's journey. The woman travels diagonally across the stage to affirm her power over all and to establish this with the audience. The choreography is feminine, with the dancer using her long ruffled skirt as a prop rather than a hindrance as seen in prior sections. The section reinforces the strength of freedom and the character's freedom. The dancer drops to knees, clasps her hands together and lifts them above her head following which, she throws them backwards and proceeds to then rise again without struggle. The section relieves the audience of the tension so imminent in the rest of the composition; the dancer has finalised the contradictory elements and the use of dynamics, space and time respectively have increased in consistency. The concluding section is simplified with uniform concepts ending the work. The dynamics transition to become solely percussive and vibratory and the tempo is consistently fast paced with simplified metre and a regular rather than syncopated rhythm. This secures the audience in understanding the piece. After being taken on a journey of empathising and witnessing the emotions of the dancer in the previous section, they are immediately enlightened to know the problem they were presented with at the beginning of Cry has been solved and the tension has been…

Before watching the play, I surely did not know what to expect from it, as I was not familiar with it. After a short introduction to the play and eventually watching it, I must say I was fond of it. At least that is the short and my general version of it. I didn’t really know what to expect from a play of this kind. In general, I think that it’s an important thing to keep in mind that I didn’t have any further expectations. Because if your expectations aren’t sky high from the beginning, you have a good chance of not getting disappointed.…

The same tune would get caught in your ear, then it was moving you faster or slower; as well as that tune getting louder or softer at appropriate intervals coinciding with the dramas taking place. I also noticed a few woodwind and harp solos during the brighter, happier moments of the performance. The use of castanets and tambourines also caught my eyes and ears. Of course, there was tremendous use of varying the pitch and tempo as well as how loud or soft the music was. Again this is all to enhance how the emotion was conveyed to the audience. Additionally, a piece that stuck out in my head as I left (mainly because I’ve never really noticed or caught on to it until after learning this in one of our class sections) was toward the end when a solo played for a period of time and then that instrument was joined by all the other instruments—playing the same thing—in consistent pleasing…

What terror has been brought upon you, my family? My most precious musical scores. Within those bars and staffs lay further profound melodies and blissful stories, with crescendos and rising chromatics presenting the climaxes and memorable flashbacks. How careless could I be? But of course, who would harm Keller’s wife and child? I pace my elderly, punctured body and soul towards the Swan. Tears streamline down the saturated face of a person so famous masked by someone so blind and ignorant. And now my consequences have rightfully found their place, forcing me to become invisible to the world. I am like a continuous, endless rest in a piece, after a contrast from mezzo forte to sforzando arpeggiated chords climbing up the piano. I was a maestro, known by all, forced to disappear within the thin air of Vienna and to reappear in the humid, alien land of booze and blow.…

A loud “whoosh” echoes throughout the dark distant auditorium, and in an instant huge gleaming lights lower themselves upon the stage. The stage sits empty, lifeless, waiting, listening..listening for one to drop jaws with their all-knowing Mozart Symphony or disappoint with a piece that has no rhythm. With each day a new audience gathers around to join the stage in listening. To some it just may be a song, but to others it is a message, a chapter, a story. A story that throws all of life's up’s, all of life's downs. All of it’s good days, it’s bad days. Everything described on one sheet of paper.. But ultimately that was the audience's choice. The stage waited each day for the next performer, for the next song..With each passing person a new song, a new story told, and here is mine.…

This essay has been a review of the concert I attended. In the preceding paragraphs, I have explained the musical elements that went well, what could have been better and my personal opinion of the concert. As a musician, I learned a lot from attending this performance, both about the music itself and what I should strive for in my own performances. The room itself was soaked in nothing but Tilda’s wavering scent. Her favorite fragrance of Caron Poivre’s fine peppery heat infused with the undertone of a fine woodsy drawl. The only thing to drown out selected scent was the lit candles that had a jasmine fusion burning into the air making the atmosphere sultry and sensual. Tilda shifted her weight against the sofa, the split in her dress spreading further exposing her hip as it popped out at a tilt while she curled her legs with grace after kicking off her heels. She couldn’t help but run the edge of her fingertip along her rose tinted lips until her teeth bit down on her nail - it was almost suggestive as her eyes gleamed with pride melting fiercely.…
