Marine Biologist Research Paper
A marine biologist is considered a dream job for many people. Many people aspire to be marine biologists, but not many of them are willing to work for it. Anyone can dream and fantasize about being a successful marine biologist, but not everyone can transform their dreams into a reality. To be a successful marine biologist you need special skills, attributes, and training. The reality of being a marine biologist all depends on the location, salary, education, and connection to Marine Biology. A marine biologist is someone who studies plant and animal saltwater species. They observe marine life and their natural environments. Marine biologists also help solve problems damaging marine life such as pollution and overfishing. Also, marine biologists …show more content…
For most jobs you are required to have at least a Bachelors degree. Some jobs even require a Doctorates degree, but the majority of jobs either require a Masters or Bachelors degree. Normally a Masters or Doctorates degree is required for a high-end research position or a professor at a large college/university. Besides a college degree, Marine Biologists need to have many other aspects of education and training. Such things including being trained on how to safely use SCUBA and snorkeling equipment. A lot of a Marine Biologists time will be spent either managing or using SCUBA equipment. You need to know how to use and prepare SCUBA equipment. Not only this, but a Marine Biologist should also have been trained on how to safely operate a boat. Sometimes while doing a project involving the ocean you may be needed to operate a boat. Knowing how to safely drive and operate a boat will help you in your career. Also, when becoming a Marine Biologist it’s good to have extra skills and experience. When beginning your career path in Marine Biology in high school you should take the proper classes and credits needed such as science, math, and even English classes. Another thing you should do while in high school is internships or even volunteer for aquariums, zoos, and other environments to help you in the future. Colleges and job employers will look at these things and often times it can decide between to applicants applying for a job. A Marine Biologist is a very popular career that many people aspire to have. Therefore, jobs right now in this pathway are rare. The ocean fascinates people around the world and the downside to that is the minimal amount of jobs positions open. That is why volunteering at aquariums and doing internships and having knowledge is important because it can make someone stand out more than others and that is crucial when applying for a job
