Man Born Blind
The Healing Of A Man Born Blind

The topic of the message is "The Healing of a Man Born Blind" from John chapter 9 verses 1 through 41. Always trust in God, no matter what situation you are in, who is against you, and after praise God, and only God

Our text (John chapter 9) starts with Jesus seeing a man who was blind from birth. The first question his disciples asked was, "…who sinned, this man or his parents that he was born blind?" This physical disability was considered as a form of punishment for the sins committed. So the disciples thought this man's blindness was the result of a punishment for his or his parent's sin. But we see Jesus immediately addressing this misconception by stating in John chapter 9 verse 3, "Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life." Thus, Jesus declares the purpose of the situation.

We read in verse 6, Jesus spit on the ground, made some mud with saliva, and put it on the man's eyes. This was very similar to how God created man as described in Genesis chapter 2 verse 7, we read, "the LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being." Therefore, Jesus starts to make a change in the situation.

Then we read in verse 7, "Go, wash in the Pool of Siloam (this word means Sent)." So the man went and washed, and came home seeing. By obeying the words of Jesus, the man was able to achieve full healing and restoration of his sight. Jesus completes the change in his situation. Heals the blind man

As we go on, the text describes that the neighbors noticed the change and started inquiring about it. When God makes a change in our situation, people around us will notice and inquire. What the man did is notable? We read in verse 9, "…But he himself insisted, ‘I am the man.'" He testified about the things that Jesus had done for him. He was not ashamed in mentioning

The first sign miracles Jesus performed were when he had gone to a wedding in Cana John 2:1-12). Jesus and his disciples (6 of them) had arrived at the wedding, which was already in progress. This miracle symbolizes the Church’s (the bride’s) relationship to Christ (The bridegroom). Mary, Jesus mother was at the wedding as well. She went to Jesus and told him that they had run out of wine. Mary probable was related to the bride because a wedding in Galilee was a family affair, and female’s relatives of the bride were in charge of the kitchens. Mary and Jesus were related to the bride because commentators think sense she took the initiative to so something about the wine. So Mary told the servant to do whatever Jesus asked them to do. They were to ask no question just do whatever was asked of them to do. Jesus really didn’t need the help of the servant but he chose to use them. This is the same when it comes to us God expects us to what we can. Jesus performed this miracle maybe because one His stamp of approval on marriage as a divine institution by His presence. Two the first miracle communicates typical truths regarding Christ’s preeminence in His relation to the church as His bride. Three Jesus was setting the stage for His ministry. Four He knew that wine was a sign of Joy. Wanted the world to know that there was joy (grace) in his coming. These are just some of the reason why Jesus may have performed his first miracle by turning water into wine. The miracle points to the deity of Christ in that its display his power over creation and a new beginning. John show it like this where Jesus change water into wine meaning that He changed the water of Judaism into the wine of Christianity, the water of the law into the wine of the gospel, the water of Christlessness into the wine of the richness and the fullness of eternal…

The book then unfolds on demonstrating a strong understanding of the individual’s feelings and emotions. He empathizes that counselors should be aware of themselves before counseling others on any situation. Since Dr. Wright uses biblical passages as examples in ministering others, he recommends that ministers use Jesus as an example on treating a crisis or trauma victim. He teaches to ministers that once the advice is given, it cannot be taken back. The individual is going through a traumatic event and if the words aren’t chosen correctly, it could have a drastic impact on their life.
