Maisie had first been inspired by stepping on a chewed up piece of gum while walking across the grass in the park. She had picked up her foot, and wiped it off in the grass. She then thought about someone else stepping on the gum and how awful it would be if it was a child who found him or herself in the same situation as her. An idea then came to her.
That same day, she went home and constructed a plan to make chewed up gum more useful and much more …show more content…
The first flavor she created was blueberry, using organic fruits and no unnatural dyes. After creating five different flavors, she then added one more ingredient that is crucial to make the gum as unique as it is. Fruit seeds. This took over a year and a half to ensure that this gum safe for the human body to consume.
Maisie then began handing out her gum to her friends and family without telling them what is really inside. No one had seemed to notice that there are tiny plant babies inside of one piece of gum. The gum is smoothe like any other piece of gum, so it is difficult to detect the seeds.
“They reacted the same as if I had handed them a regular piece of gum. They had not even noticed that they were chewing gum created by me,” said Maisie in an interview we held with her. “My aunt even asked me where she could get a pack of the blueberry and watermelon gum. My grandpa also commented how the blueberry gum actually taste like the real fruit. I did not tell him right away that it was because it was actually made out of real fruit and not artificial
