Maisie Duscher Research Paper
Maisie Duscher, aged 17, from Minnesota, created a piece of gum that when you spit it out, it would grow a fruit plant or fruit tree. Strawberry flavored gum grows strawberry plants, orange flavored gum grows an orange tree, apple flavored gum grows an apple tree, and many more flavors to come.
Maisie had first been inspired by stepping on a chewed up piece of gum while walking across the grass in the park. She had picked up her foot, and wiped it off in the grass. The first flavor she created was blueberry, using organic fruits and no unnatural dyes. After creating five different flavors, she then added one more ingredient that is crucial to make the gum as unique as it is. Fruit seeds. This took over a year and a half to ensure that this gum safe for the human body to consume.
Maisie then began handing out her gum to her friends and family without telling them what is really inside. No one had seemed to notice that there are tiny plant babies inside of one piece of gum. The gum is smoothe like any other piece of gum, so it is difficult to detect the seeds.
“They reacted the same as if I had handed them a regular piece of gum. They had not even noticed that they were chewing gum created by me,” said Maisie in an interview we held with her. “My aunt even asked me where she could get a pack of the blueberry and watermelon gum. My grandpa also commented how the blueberry gum actually taste like the real fruit. I did not tell him right away that it was because it was actually made out of real fruit and not artificial

The children could eat the marshmallow, the researchers said, but if they waited for fifteen minutes without giving in to the temptation, they would be rewarded with a second marshmallow. The researches says that some children cover their eyes with their hands or turn around so that they can't see the tray, others start kicking the desk, or tug on their pigtails, or danced in their seats, sang, and took pretend naps. Several took a bite from the bottom of the marshmallow then placed it back in the desert cup so it looked untouched. A few then nibbled off the top, forgetting they could then longer hide the evidence since both ends were eaten while others would simply eat the marshmallow as soon as the researchers left.…
