n Lorraine Hansberry’s A Raisin in the Sun, Walter is the perfect example of a character who struggles with greed and racism while trying to achieve the American Dream. When this play was written (1959) America was very close to extreme race/cultural uprising; since the civil rights and women’s movements began. Due to these movements the American Dream started to become popular; as it shows that it wasn't accessible to all races and cultures.
